Watching it snow. Again. (Where's that Vent and Rant thread again? Oh, found it. Thanks.) Actually, I was thinking this morning about a new service I need, and here seems as good a place to share my musings as any. I need a matchmaker service for matchmakers. I.e., I've got a couple of single friends to recommend to others. E.g. "Wanted, companion for 50 year old male. Tall, thin, long hair, good physical condition. Very intelligent, steady job. Does own dishes & laundry. Good cook, excellent conversationalist. Fascinated by Japanese language. A bit stubborn at times, but mostly very considerate. Must like cats." |

He likes matcha, but seems to prefer Darjeeling much of the time, though we often drink Japanese tea together as well. Oh, I should also add: "Good sense of humor, but does tell puns (you've been warned). Likes science fiction and Tolkien." Hm, that's a good point. He's quite a reader (though he still prefers the dead tree variety, possibly because he spends all day fixing software problems). Maybe we could have a "recommend-a-friend" service here at MR specifically for finding partners for readers? |

A matching system at MR should probably work in part based on favorite books/authors, in addition to the usual gender/gender pref/age stuff. And given how much we talk about food around here, I think favorite cuisines could also be a basis for matching. Should such a hypothetical system also take liseuse preferences into account, or should that be an option? | |
