Amazon for non us citizens

Hi. I am a new user in this forum and just bought my first e-reader. I have a Kindle Voyage. I live in Sweden and I would like to know if you how to get US only content /deals? Anyone has experience about this regarding Amazon? The deal I am referring to is The Kindle First program where you can buy up to 2 new books a month for 1,99 usd. It’s not much difference of a price difference (4,99 the book I was looking at)I know, but It would be interesting to know if it would be enough to get a US address and make it primary or you also would need a US credit card? A US address I can obtain easily, a credit card is to much fuss to be worth saving those dollars. |

If you have a local Amazon account and can buy an amazon gift card, you can then redeem the gift card from your US account.

i have a canadian billing (credit card) address but have started to use the US .com site for kindle ebooks, with no problems at all. i get charged in USD but my credit card company does the conversion, and the ebooks land in my kindle android app without any problems. for non-books, i use my canadian .ca site for purchases because they're physical items that need to get physically shipped.

Bear in mind that most CC companies/banks charge international transaction fees which will cut into your savings if you're doing multiple one-click purchases. Better off buying a gift card which only costs one fee... I've also seen posts from amazon customers that eventually amazon asks them to fax/provide proof of residence of the country they're claiming. Don't know how often this happens, but you may want to consider a VPN. |

Kindle First is a perq for Prime members. Do they have Prime in Sweden? If so, Amazon is sure to question you having everything to Sweden, while you are buying out of the US store.

So far I have had no trouble buying from Amazon US even when it costs more on Amazon.ca except when it is from a company with no Canadian shipping. I have had things shipped to relatives who reship it, but more of bother than it is worth. But I just use my regular shipping address, billing address, so maybe it is easier for Canadians than for overseas customers. Helen |

No there is no Prime in Sweden, You can have Amazon First without Prime membership, just need to subscribe to an email. In Sweden i need to buy all books from the US Kindle store, so that is not a problem as far as Amazon is concerned, international customers like me can´t shop rom the UK kindle store but msut buy from the US. I got the Kindle first to work, because i have a shipping adress in the us. a reshipping adress. even if it woudl stop working, the ave i made was not huge. aprox 2 dollars, but i could buy the book before release, witch is nice |

Non-Prime members have always been able to buy Kindle First (early) at the reduced rate. It's just the second title add-on that's different this month.

I use USA Amazon store from Turkey, only thing you need to do is to select United States in Manage Your Content and Devices. But do not forget that this is a breach of contract (not illegal!). Amazon can cancel your account anytime they want. So, do not forget to backup your books with Calibre. |

You do not need to be a Citizen of the USA to by books from Amazon (US). You only need to be currently located here to meet the purchase TOS , then you can go back home with your loot Visit the USA. Bring/spend lots of money PS many of our public libraries let you read on the premises without needing a Library card |

We spend winters in the U.S. now, so I change my country settings in my Amazon.com account to wherever I am physically. I checked with Amazon support to see if it was OK to change back and forth like that, and they said it was.
