Well, after reading a couple of the Campion series, time for a complete change. Now reading the fifth in Alexander Kent's Bolitho series, In Gallant Company. I read many of these many years ago, but they became hard to find in American book stores. And then, of course, I found Patrick O'Brian, and that satisfied my naval cravings for a while. But these are still excellent books, and I'm enjoying my trip back to them. Especially knowing that they are all available in eBook format.

This is Cozy Mystery Week, so I'm trying to prioritize a couple of cozies. Right now I'm reading Saint Peter's Fair, a Brother Cadfael mystery by Ellis Peters, and will be starting The Root of All Evil by Ellery Adams and Elizabeth Lockard.

If space opera is what you're thinking of, there's always Agent of Change , the first of the Liaden Universe books from Sharon Lee and Steve Miller. Part of the Baen Free Library. Or, for something with a bit of a twist, but really special IMHO, how about Rosemary Kirstein's The Steerswoman?

Next up: A recent purchase: Monk's Hood by Ellis Peters. I read most of her Cadfael books (including this one) around the time they were published (over 30 years ago!). So this is a bit of a comfort read. After re-reading the first two in the series, I'm sure I'll enjoy this re-read of her Third Cadfael book.

Hey is this a re-read? I always wanted to read the Harry Potter books from the start to finish, in my mind, I only skimmed the books and just looked out for the movie. But doing such would take a lot of time that I haven't got on my hands right now. Spoiler:

You might try breaking the reader's block by re-reading an old favorite? I've done that sometimes. I decided to read Rosehead by Ksenia Anske. I made a bit of headway but the only reading time I've found is right before bead and I've been quite tired, so I'm only 15% through.

I can see how you might consider this 'not a cozy'. But it matches several of the key criteria which distinguish a cozy: an amateur sleuth; "gentle" books… no graphic violence, no profanity, and no explicit sex; usually takes place in a small town or village. But it fails in several others: the crime-solver is usually a woman; the local police force doesn’t take the amateur sleuth very seriously; tend to be fast-paced, with several twists and turns. But, I had already checked the book out of the library and the lending clock was ticking -- and I found "permission" on the Cozy-Mystery site, so I'm calling it a cozy for this week.
