I guess I'm fortunate because the songs that stick in my head tend to be songs that I like. I run them into the ground mentally so they quickly leave.

I seem to get really weird stuff stuck in my head. Last night it was the version my husband learned when he was a kid, not the version I learned.

Husband's version
Beans, beans, the magical fruit
The more you eat the more you toot
The more you toot the better you feel
So eat your beans at every meal

My version
Beans, beans, good for the heart
The more you eat the more you fart
The more you fart the better you feel
So eat your beans at every meal

I think my husband had a deprived childhood. What version did you learn?

Where did you grow up? I grew up in Portsmouth, VA and we had the same version as yours with the exception of the last line. Ours went, "So let's eat beans for every meal."

And strangely enough, that's been stuck in my head within the last couple of weeks.

The same for me, but I usually can only remember a line or two, so those two lines keep repeating in my head.

Oh, in Pennsylvania I only ever heard the hubby's version. However since it was slightly risque, I wouldn't have actually *sung* it! At least, not at home! I'd better requote, before we lose track of the versions:

Is that along the lines of Data's limerick in The Naked Now? i.e "There once was a man from Venus whose body.." For some reason Capt. Picard cut him off right around that point.

Mr. Irwin reminds me of the man who did the Dorito's commercials back when I was a kid. He also played in Scavenger Hunt, one of the airplane movies, and Galaxina. That was the late Avery Schreiber. I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Irwin based his look on Mr. Schreiber's.
