Question: T68 Lynx and Calibe Companion and/or external SD card

I just recieved my T68 Lynx today and I absolutely love it. For me, it is the perfect size, shape, color, everything. I immediately did the update over the air and it all went very smoothly. I am getting used to the touch screen which isn't spot on perfect, but it is consistent and predictable. It knocks the socks off my Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight and my Kindle. I can check my email right from the device. And I installed Tapatalk because I use a lot of the web forums. Now I can read without distraction because my one ereader does everything for me.

But there is at least one thing I do not know how to do. It involves Calibre Companion and it also involves my external SD card. So I am really asking for help from users who might use these two things.

1. When I connect the T68 Lynx to my Linux computer, the computer does not 'see' my external SD card. It just displays the internal drive. I can't simply copy books from my hard drive to the SD card. If I try this from within Calibre, the SD card doesn't show. I am only able to send to the main memory using either my file manager or Calibre.

2. Calibre Companion is able to download books to my device. I set the directory to eBooks on the main memory. I know the books are there because I can read them. But only if I open from within Calibre Companion. I'd like those books to appear on the Home Screen as either "Recently Added" or "Reading" as the case may be.

3. If I remove the SD card and pop it directly into my computer, I can easily copy books to it, but when I replace the card back into the T68 Lynx, they do not appear in my library.

Gotta Be that I am doing something wrong. Can anyone advise what I can do to fix this?

Thank you so much for your help. And yes, I love this device.

How big is your card ? T68 supports only up to 32Gb.
Do you know how to look at the logs (dmesg)? Does it show anything that might clear up why it's not working ?

I wanted to try mine. I remember that at some point it worked (see below though). However as soon as I've touched it I remembered why I had to let it go and move onto the Boyue T62: click here and something else opens, put the card in, the thing reboots. After it comes back on I try to connect it to the PC and then it starts flashing the "mount storage" dialog, etc.
A nightmare. And to think that sometimes I think of turning back to it bc of the beautiful screen :|

I said "see below" bc even though at some point I could mount the card in my Linux (via the T68 of course), I could never really use the card in the T68 bc it has it's share of issue card related

However, I really hope I have a buggy one and yours is working correctly, I don't want to spoil your joy.

Hmmmm.... I think I may have fixed the problem. The 8 gig SD card came out of my Nook. I deleted all of the files from it and popped it into the T68 Lynx. The Volume name on it was NOOK. Just for giggles, I turned off the T68. I popped out the SD card and formatted it. I replaced it into the T68 Lynx and it seems to be working now.

Now my only 'complaint' is with the screen. It doesn't refresh. If I highlight a word to check it in the dictionary, the word won't 'un-highlight' and when I turn the page, the highlight is on the next page as well in the same spot. Turns out the little refresh symbol on the top menu isn't refresh at all, but quality vs performance. They might have chosen a different icon.

Yes, I still love my device. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

If you keep the menu button (the one left and up) pressed it's going to perform a full refresh.

While it does make the screen look cleaner, it doesn't 'un-highlight' and the highlight remains even after you turn the pages. That's a problem.
