Now we just need to wait for @Shellshock to come through with some more fixes for iOS8. No idea what your problem is, but it may have something to do with that. (I don't use the plugin or iDevices, my knowledge is limited.) | |

For those who don't read the other threads, the most recent version of Calibre is now working. I've downloaded it and it works for me. Many, many thanks to ShellShock!

Continuing the iPad Air 2/Mini 3 connection bug from the other thread. I've deleted and then reinstalled the iOS reader plugin and I still get an error when trying to customize it. I have version 1.4.4 of the plugin and the latest version of Calibre running on Yosemite on my Mac. Everything continues to work normally with my Mini Retina iPad and both devices have the exact same number of books. Below is the error log when trying to customize the plugin: calibre, version 2.10.0 ERROR: Unhandled exception: <b>ImportError</b>:No module named PyQt4 calibre 2.10 isfrozen: True is64bit: True Darwin-14.0.0-x86_64-i386-64bit Darwin ('64bit', '') ('Darwin', '14.0.0', 'Darwin Kernel Version 14.0.0: Fri Sep 19 00:26:44 PDT 2014; root:xnu-2782.1.97~2/RELEASE_X86_64') Python 2.7.8 OSX: ('10.10', ('', '', ''), 'x86_64') Successfully initialized third party plugins: DeDRM && iOS reader applications && Marvin XD Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages/calibre/gui2/preferences/plugins.py", line 292, in customize_plugin File "site-packages/calibre/gui2/preferences/plugins.py", line 370, in modify_plugin File "site-packages/calibre/customize/__init__.py", line 152, in do_user_config File "calibre_plugins.ios_reader_apps.__init__", line 493, in config_widget File "site-packages/calibre/customize/zipplugin.py", line 179, in load_module File "calibre_plugins.ios_reader_apps.config", line 26, in <module> File "/Users/PGood/Library/Preferences/calibre/plugins/iOS_reader_applications_resources/widgets/main_ui.py", line 10, in <module> from PyQt4 import QtCore, QtGui ImportError: No module named PyQt4 Last edited by Mr. Goodbar; 11-15-2014 at 09:44 AM. |

				Hooray...and THANKS!

HOORAY!!! After being unable to connect calibre and Marvin since late September, everything is working again with this week's calibre update. This is wonderful, and I'm sure I join many many others in wanting to thank everyone who did the hard work of resolving these bugs, especially Philantrop. THANK YOU!!!!

As per advise received from Mr ShellShock (thank you!) I am attaching here today's Calibre debug log from my Mac running on OSX 10.9.5: I first totally powered off my iPad Air 2, then via USB I tried connecting the iPad with Marvin's Calibre Connector to Calibre but still no communication between both: no buttons, no means of adding books via Calibre through Marvin on my iPad. Every program has been updated (latest IOS and Marvin and Calibre), all (relevant) plug ins updated, I have just not (yet) updated to Yosemite. I have also pressed the Debug Device detections option in Calibre, which leads to attachment 2 in my post here - not sure if this helps. I have seen a post where I can find the plug-ins for Calibre; should I clean (and then what?) and/or remove the IOS Reader plug in (is still in my Calibre today), or should I wait for your advise, or....? I feel so frustrated ... Appreciate your help!! [/FONT] |

@weyns1960, in you log you have: DEBUG: 0.0 iOSReaderApp:_get_connected_device_info() DEBUG: 0.0 No connected iDevices This error is logged by the IOS reader application plugin when either: a) libimobiledevice returns a null list of devices, or b) an empty list of devices. libimobiledevice is the C/C++ library that communicates with the idevice (your IPad). On Windows, I have seen it detecting two devices when only one is connected, with one of the devices having a product_id == 0; this can cause the IOSRA plugin to communicate to the wrong device. I don't think that is the case for you--no devices are being detected, and I don't know why. You could try installing a trial version of IMazing (http://imazing.com/), and see if that has any more luck communicating with your IPad. |

Thanks ShellShock, for spotting yet another problem, for which there seems to be no explanation and no solution either, except for trying another program. A program to which I am not familiar, but I will certainly give it a go in the coming days/weeks. After the problems experience with the (error message No module named PyQt4), then not being able to modify the IOS Reader Plug in, I thought we were almost there...just lacking a few buttons/connections... Not so! Now, every time I start Calibre, I have to update the IOS Reader Plug in again, and I (sometimes) get weird error messages which I just accept since there is nothing else I can do (yes, this is a new issue since this week!). But once all that is done and Calibre seems to be working as it should, I am for now happy because I can make my iPad communicate with my Calibre library via the Marvin DropBox connector, so at least I can keep on reading. I have spent weeks and weeks getting that Calibre library set up, so I am not ready to abandon! I so hope that a solution is found to all the problems reported just about everywhere on this forum, especially related to (so it seems) IOS 8 upgraders; it would be so nice if we could all go back to being happy Marvin/Calibre users Good luck and thank you for everyone involved in making this happen! |

My impression is that the IOSRA plugin and IOS 8 are now working OK for most people, including both Windows and Linux users.

Mine just started working as well. The only change between working and not working seems to be the latest update to Yosemite. Whatever the solution, I'm pleased.

New user of the plugin here. I'm using Calibre 2.11 (64 bit windows), version 1.4.4 of the plugin. I've followed (I think) the initial setup instructions, but when I plug my iPad2 into my computer when running calibre (or when starting calibre with it plugged in), nothing happens. I'm expecting a 'Device' button to appear on the toolbar, like when I connect to iTunes. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks!
