Is it possible to transfer PDF highlights to a converted Mobi?
Say I've got notes on a PDF version of a book and convert it to Mobi using Calibre: would it be possible to transfer those notes over?

I didn't think that Kindles supported notes for PDF files. Are these notes from another app, perhaps on a Fire? You'd have to have a program to convert the notes file (whereever it might be) into the .mbp format to go along with the .mobi file. I don't see how that would be possible, since you wouldn't have location numbers to match where the notes are supposed to go.

they sure do although perhaps it's not all kindles, i'm using a paperwhite2.

in any case that's too bad maybe it'd be possible to code something. i might look into it when i'm less busy.

Kindles do support notes for PDF.

No they cannot be transferred over, but that is because you converted the PDF.

Notes are specific to the internal code of the book they came from -- they use file offsets and stuff.

You can transfer the PDF itself, together with the "{bookname}.sdr" folder next to the PDF, onto another Kindle device and the annotations files within that folder will be properly sensed and used by the new Kindle.
