But, but .... August has 31 days. How come it's on the 13th then? (even if you are already on the 14th ..... that still isn't the 15th. If that makes sense. I'm pretty sure none of the planet is TWO days ahead of the rest of the planet.**)
**except perhaps in their heads. Or on Terry Pratchett days. |

Learned about the Ides in high school Latin class. Mr. Cork was a very good teacher.

Coke Zero (in a can). Back from a short walk -- my knee's still not up to a long hike, but we're getting there!

![]() Violence flarin', bullets loadin' You're old enough to kill, but not for votin' You don't believe in war, but what's that gun you're totin' And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin' But you tell me Over and over and over again, my friend Ah, you don't believe We're on the eve of destruction. ![]() ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFZUDQ85bFU ) Written by P. F. Sloan in 1965, but the best-known recording was by Barry McGuire. Almost 50 years ago, and so little has changed. Good morning, everyone. Rainy morning in the jungle, and even almost chilly! That calls for some Lapsang Souchong, extra smokey from McNulty's Tea& Coffee in NYC. All I need to complete the scene would be a fireplace and an old dog! Quote:
The Romans did not number days of a month sequentially from the first through the last day. Instead, they counted back from three fixed points of the month: the Nones (5th or 7th, depending on the length of the month), the Ides (13th or 15th), and the Kalends (1st) of the following month. The Ides occurred near the midpoint, on the 13th for most months, but on the 15th for March, May, July, and October. The Ides were supposed to be determined by the full moon, reflecting the lunar origin of the Roman calendar. Stitchawl |

Milk Oolong to start the day. Working on some Sencha right now.
Loving my new tea machine. I love that I can program it to make the tea and wake up to a fresh pot. I can bring a pot of great tea to the office in a thermos and make more at the office once that is gone. Then resteep when I get home. (giggles) |

New machine sounds really nice, ProfCrash. I'm now officially envious.
In my cup: an Oolong of unknown provenance, bought from a tea shop in downtown Vancouver. It's OK, but not great. |

OK, so it is expensive but it is awesome. You fill the pot with water and put in the tea basket. The water heats to the desired temperature and the tea basket lowers into the water. After the brew time, the tea basket is pulled out of the water. No over steeping, no sitting in the water. Perfect pot. And you can make a large pot, as in 1.2 liters of tea at a time. 45 ounces of tea. And it has a keep warm option. So lots of tea, a good deal more then the Zarafina ever made, with the tea removed after steeping so no over steeping and the ability to resteep and enough tea made to serve a bunch of people at any one time. I love it. Finishing off some Blue Spring Oolong from home before making something at the office. |
