@williamrochira: Besides hacking around like was done for the 3.x-on-DXg thing, I'm hoping a FW update will fix it once Amazon realize that they released devices their own FW aren't even aware exist ;p.

If the most recent '9017' - then you have to use the packages from NiLuJe's snapshots. Have **one** and **only** one *.bin file on the root of your kindle at a time. No *.zip file, nor anything else from the package's archive contents. |

okay, found some software to open the .tar.xz on my Mac (the Unarchiver), so I am gonna try with this one and.... yes no longer grayed out! and... yes, there's the jailbreak text! Thanks!! Now let's see if I can get the screensaver to show me a book cover instead of the standard screensavers edit: installed the Screensavers hack but it won't show the book covers yet But I'll take that problem to the right place in this forum... and another edit: it works now, happy happy joy joy Last edited by j0ke42; 07-18-2014 at 10:10 AM. |

Hey Guys, I just bought Kindle PW2 Wi-Fi in the U.S. and tried to jailbreak it using the bin file from kindle-jailbreak-1.10.N.zip, no luck. Getting error 007. Firmware Version: Kindle 5.4.3.2 (2317380003) Serial number starts with 90D4 Could be the same issue as j0ke42 mentioned here https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&postcount=979 I tried one of the snapshots from this page https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=225030 already. No luck too. Please help! |

@BoozinKindler: Nope, that's just a run-of-the-mill PEBCAK (aka. "You're Doing It Wrong!"™). Clear the usb root of any and all .bin files, restart your device, and try again, correctly (namely, make sure you're *extracting* the contents of the kindle-5.4-jailbreak.zip archive, and *only* that, and that you're not using the usb root as a working directory for unpacking the full package). |

@NiLuJe, my bad, sorry! I was under impression I need to put Update_jailbreak_bridge_1.10.N_install.bin into the root directory... Got it working now! Thank you! |

Hi again NiLuJe. I was wondering what would be involved in getting KUAL to play nicely with my 4gb '9060' PW2. I know you said we should wait for a firmware update from Amazon, but in the mean time, is there somewhere you could guide me to try and get it to work myself? Will. |

@williamrochira: Not really, the last time something remotely like that has been done was on FW 3.x, and it involved hard java bytecode tweaking, which is NOT a recommended way to delve into Kindle hacking, especially on a device like the PW2 with flakey recovery capabilities at best (unless you have serial access). I linked to the 3.x stuff a couple of pages ago, and dsmid has posted a few relevant stuff since, too. (Plus, I'm not a Java guy anyway ). Last edited by NiLuJe; 07-20-2014 at 12:28 PM. |

@NiLuJe Okay then, I guess it's just a waiting game... I can't cd into most of the /opt/ subdirectories. Do you know why? It's really frustrating because I just discovered that there's a package manager for the Kindle (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=118472) but I can't install it! I don't understand! I've mounted read/write, I've tried resetting the thing, but no luck. Any thoughts? Will. Last edited by afterbox; 04-30-2018 at 12:12 PM. |
