Annotation improvements in recent firmware releases?

I have an Aura HD which runs FW 2.8.1 with the Metazoa patches applied. I've wondered about upgrading, but FW2.8.1 with patches is so much better than any previous version, and I read so many accounts of how for every bug fixed in newer versions at least one more is introduced, that I've never moved on. However the one thing that would be worth upgrading for is a better, i.e. more reliable, annotation system. I don't mean a nicer user interface, although having it show annotations in the order in which they appear in the text would be nice. Mainly I mean not randomly losing annotations that have cost me much detailed checking of text to produce, or sometimes randomly reintroducing annotations that I've deleted.

Can anyone advise me as to whether the newer firmware versions have made any serious improvements to the reliability of the annotation system? Your advice would be much appreciated. |

I don't think I've ever lost any annotations before. I'm perfectly happy with 3.30 especially now that I can get rid of the huge header and footer. That way you can really use that extra space on the Aura HD.

GibbinR: There are no real changes to the annotations from 2.8.1 to 3.3.0. The only change is how the menu and dictionary pop-up are displayed after selecting text in a book. 3.4.1 has a lot of changes to the Annotation list. These are not complete, but overall are an improvement. There are some changes in the annotation entry screen as well. When these are finished, they will be good changes.

As to annotation bugs, I don't think any have been fixed. The ordering of annotations in epubs definitely hasn't. |

I don't have a Touch but I do have a Kobo Aura on fw 3.3.0 - all sideloaded standard epubs. I can make the %read appear on my sleep screen if I want it. What settings have you checked on the Settings - Light, Sleep & Power page (bottom 3 boxes)?

I just discovered a 3.3.0 bug (I don't remember anyone raising it, so please forgive if they have).

When plugging my Glo into a power only USB (wall plug), in 3.3.0, it thought that I was connecting to a computer, and asked if I wanted to connect? In 3.5.0, the Glo has gone back to the normal behaviour of "don't ask, just charge". |
