anybody know how to preserve formatting pasting into FB & Google+ ?

Not all the formatting but I need a line space between paragraphs. I'm just posting a bunch of paragraphs, but whenever I post into my FB or Google+ streams, the paragraphs get all bunched together. I've tried all kinds of thing but just can't get it to work. Anybody know how? Thanks.

 Hitch!

Hitch, I didn't explain myself well. I want to take a Word (or html or anything) document and paste it into FB or Google+ and have the line between the paragraphs (or indentations) be preserved in the pasting. I just need something like this. A space between the paragraphs. That they're block-style is fine. (Or if you know of a way to preserve indentations then I wouldn't need the line-space.) I just don't want to have to go into FB or G+ and separate all the paragraphs all the time. There's gotta be something that can do it, right? Thx. |

I'm sorry, I don't understand your question. If you mean, is there some magic thing that will create an empty paragraph between two paragraphs that do NOT have an empty paragraph between them (the enter key) in Word, and make same appear in Google+/FB, the answer is, NO. If you simply copy and paste block-style paras that have an extra blank line (enter) between them, that's preserved in G/FB. However, if you've used styles to create vertical spacing for block-style, or you have first-line-ident, then you will have to do something ELSE to make that happen. The simplest thing I can think of is to take your source material, copy it (assuming that's needed) and simply search-and-replace ^p with ^p^p. That will create a blank line between paragraphs which you can then copy and paste. But, crap, why on earth are you composing FB or G+ posts in WORD? I mean, we're only talking a few hundred words here, really. OTOH, you could do what I do; I use markdown in an HTML editor when I need a markdown-aided post for whatever reason (as I've mentioned, both my customer service system and my project management system use markdown--two different flavors, which means different markdown in each). Then you'd have to use the "enter" key and it wouldn't be an issue. Your flavor, your choice. Hitch

But what's wrong with composing in Word? Now that I don't use styles it transfers fine. (What would be better to compose in?) (I'm always looking to improve!) Thanks again!

I'd assume compose it in Google+ or FaceBook itself?

I generally compose things in either textpad/notepad on Windows or textwrangler on the Mac.

 that'll work

I was trying to copy and paste a slightly bigger document though. Hey, think I can ask you a question (or two or three or...) if I get really stuck with my Linux pursuit. (I started that Linux guide you gave me. I was a little hesitant at first because I'm interested in Ubuntu but the overview has been awesome and I gleaned some micro stuff (I was able to find this KDiff comparison tool I'd downloaded but couldln't find, but then the book you gave me was talking about what the "root" was and I was able to find it that way) from it too. And I've been tapped out of my questions at Ubuntu One (they only allow 6 in a 24 hour period! It's an outrage!) forum.

Or whatever you want. There is no linux thread, so make your own! Perhaps you will start a new trend. Best to keep these things in their own dedicated space.
