conversion problem

Whenever I try to do conversion ( pdf > mobi or any other file ) it says there is some error with syntax or smth like that. Any ide what should I do?

I am guessing there is an issue with non ASCII characters in the filename/path

I changed the file name several times and received the same message...

I think the entire path has to be ASCII - its probably the name of the folder in which the library exists - ie one that you created in Windows using non ascii characters (cyrrilic, greek etc)

My folder is in alphabet. Do you have any suggestion what can I do?

Use the OS to move (rename) the folder (with calibre stopped) to a new location:
eg. c:\MyLibrary\ <matadata.db and all the author folders will be here if you did it correctly)
Then start Calibre (which will complain that the 'Library is not found'
On the Library icon: Right click: Create/Switch: Use Existing: <new location/name here>

There may also be problems with the location (non-ASCII path name again) of your Temp folder:
Come back if that happens (IIRC that is covered in the official FAQ)

I propably didn't to this correct or it just doesn't solve problem because the same error message occurs. Thanks. I give up.

Shift+Right Click the library folder in Windows Explorer
Select Copy as Path from the menu
Then paste clipboard contents here

Call me stupid but I use Mozzila and I can't find that copy as path...

It's not browser issue it's a file manager issue, so do it in Windows Explorer

Win+E, navigate to library folder's parent, then do what I said with Shift+RightClick etc.

There is something I'm doing wrong. Maybe this last step...I'm not sure what you mean by that. In Explorer I went to Open>Browse>Library. Was it ok?

The second step copies the path of the library to the Windows clipboard

The last step pastes (ctrl+V) the content of clipboard here

Maybe looks something like C:\Корисници\Труман\Документи\Calibre Library

If so then I think those Cyrillic characters may cause problems, you need to move the library to say C:\Calibre Data\Calibre Library - see post #8 from theducks

A friend told me about conversion portable and it works...
