New slim paperwhite case on Ebay

I wish the Amazon original PW cover in Persimmon was the color of the orange one you got. In person the Persimmon isn't very orange, it's much more red. It's a beautiful color, a very deep coral, but I actually would prefer a more true orange color.

The ebay orange cover I received looks exactly as the amazon purple except for the plastic casing which is in the cover color for the amazon version (purple then for me) and black for the ebay version, but with the back covered by orange material. Everything else is very very similar. I even like the grain a bit better on the ebay cover, it is basically the same as the amazon cover but a bit more pronounced and grippier, if this is understandable (and an english word at all).

Thank you! It's funny you should mention this. I have noticed that some of Amazon covers grip better than others. For instance, my fuchsia Amazon cover has the grain slightly raised and is more pronounced and it's very easy to grip. However, I noticed on my friends Amazon cover in persimmon that her grain is much flatter and thus more slippery which I don't like as much. So they do vary a bit from case to case even among the official Amazon case.

I was going to buy another original Amazon case just to switch it up and was looking at them in Best Buy in person and noticed the same thing, they are not all made the same. Some have the flatter grain and some have the easier to grip more pronounced grain.

At four times the price, I always wonder is the official Amazon cover really four times better than these copies?

Also, those TPU covers linked to, are they just to make your Kindle a bit comfier to hold since they don't seem to provide any protection?

Yes, clear would work best!
I would stick a picture of my goodreads book covers in there - they look so pretty all lined up, but that would also be proclaiming to the world what exactly you are reading.

Of course not. Version 3 of the knock-off is actually so close to the original that its hard to see the difference if the black ones are side by side. The colored ones have a difference: the Amazon cover has a colored rim, while the rim of the copy is black. Because of that, some people actually prefer the copies, because they can get a colored cover and still keep the rim around the Kindle black.

I wouldn't even look surprised if we found out somehow that Version 3 (+/- €15-20 depending on the seller) is actually manufactured on the same line as the official Amazon cover (€35).

Your suggestion of sticking a copy/print of a passage in there was a nice one. Now put it in upside down, and written backward, and then read in public transport. Watch the people looking at the back of your e-reader

Difficult to quantify how much better the quality is, but, to me, it definitely is compared to all the covers I have bought (and I did go a bit overboard). I find the amazon one sturdier, but also heavier. And I am not crazy about their color selection, though I love my purple cover.

Do you have a link to the Version 3 covers? Or is there some way to tell which version a cover is that's being sold on eBay?

Hello all - since you've all been buying every case known to humanity - can someone tell me if they've found a case with the following:

1. magnetic on/off
2. non-magnetic rear - so when you fold the cover back on itself, the front "on/off" magnet doesn't stick to the rear

I'm experimenting with something and the case I have appears to have some paramagnetic material (likely a thin foil of steel) sandwiched in (which kills my experimenting dead in the water)

Googleprodict Version 1 and 3 do what you want.

Version 1 has no closing magnet, version 3 does.

The one that I bought would meet your needs. The magnetic doesn't stick at all when the cover is folded open. And I see they have reduced the price even more!
