Also what if the unit malfunctions and gives you a bigger shock than expected or it's later found that it causes brain damage? A person only has one brain and can't afford to have it damaged after all.

I'd be more worried about hackers figuring out how to reconfigue the headband to target the brain's "happy center". Wireheads ahoy!

As the link suggests, tDCS has been around a very long time but medical researchers seem to argue over the best duty cycles and such. Ex-in-laws had private equity in one medical company that was going to open centers in the US (they were already open in Canada). It sure does look like one malfunction away from delivering frontal lobe electroconvulsive treatment. |

It ought to be laughably simple to make sure the device cannot deliver sufficient voltage to be harmful even if it malfunctions. I'd be more concerned about whether it has any effect whatsoever, seeing as there are no links to independent test results. It also seems to me that the device is around three times more expensive than it needs to be, given the simple task it is supposed to carry out.

Reading is not a race. I could care less how many books I read. I just enjoy reading for the enjoyment it gives me. Some books I hate to finish and I feel like I am abandoning my friends. That is another reason I like to read a book more than once. Apache |
