I noticed those today too, wasn't sure if they were competely full stories until I looked a short while ago and found that they are!

I must say that I'm being continually amazed by how many free resources there are for eBooks - I've had mine for 10 days now and I've not had to get my wallet out more than once (and the moths weren't very happy that one time)!

Just to note, Torie has discovered that the summer freebie novels are still available after all, and if they're not already taken down by now, they will be soon.

Of course, they'll continue to float around the peer to peer networks forever even after that…

One thing I want to know: this new free ebooks thingie isn't related to the Tor ebooks store that's supposed to open up in the near future, right? Becuase if it is meant as placeholder till they get the store running, the fact that they mean to release one ebook per month means the store is still months away.

The way I see it, resuming the free e-book giveaway has two - possibly both to some extent - explanations.

One - the program was successful in moving print books and brought revenue cheaply

Two - they need e-mail addresses/users for their site and they have not got enough to justify the expense, so put it back with carrot - sign and get free ebooks, and stick, sign now or you will miss on some...
