Kindle Touch v5.1.2 -- Jailbreak steps please

Please confirm this is the sequence:

but I got scared by geekmaster's stern warning about possible bricking. Does it still apply? Does it apply to KT 5.1.2 ?

yes it is.

RE 3)

Looks extreme. if you are so worried lookup blocking things via editing your /etc/sysconfig/iptables file (there are links on here with lists)

Less radical. can be reversed. does the job in the main.

Also a "gentle" log nerf might not hurt (redirecting the output to > /dev/null say)

one might disable OTA updates

Hope that helps. They are all fairly low risk assuming you do them correctly.

Don't brick your device - it's not required.

The enormous DO NOT DO THIS really should be warning enough.

Can I ask a quick question re the USBnet step? I am thinking about applying jailbreak before updating my Touch to software 5.3.2. Is it necessary to run USBnet after the jailbreak or is this a step that can be carried out later as necessary?

You don't need to install usbnet at all. In other words: if you don't need USB networking, don't install it. If you determine at some point that you do want it, install it at that time.

Thanks for the advice - I guess as I am a low level tinkerer I'd really only need usbnet if I bricked it!!!
