It's back... I just filled it out as well.

I had to choose other because you left Android phones and tablets off (although Sony Tablet was on there).

Thanks for so many interesting responses. They show such a very varied interaction with eReading and will be great for my dissertation.

As soon as I have collated all the responses I will make the information available on here, if anyone is interested, to thank you all for being so helpful

The question about devices seems to be quite controversial and has shown me how many there are available globally. I think it would have made a very very long question if I had included them all, but did not mean to neglect Android, I use a Kobo Vox myself and think of the brand rather than the OS.

The nook Color/Tablet, Kindle Fire, and Kobo Touch are kind of special cases as they're purpose-built tablets (which run Android or a variant), not general purpose Android tablets (although I understand that the Vox now has Google Play while the other two have their own app stores). Anyway, just a suggestion. I mostly use my Sony Reader, although I'll use my phone (Android now, but previously Blackberry) or one of my Android tablets in a pinch.

I filled it out. I would have phrased the question about apps to include the free ones like the Kindle App rather than just asking if someone had bought a reading app.

I wanted to take the survey BUT the question about "enhanced features" does not include a none of these option which is what I wanted to enter. I read for fun and would not want any of these on my eReader. So if you add that as an option I will give a meaningful reply to your survey.

To cut costs. Other cost saving features include a smaller battery and less internal storage.

Picture the K4 as a digital paperback. I paid $49 for mine and am quite pleased with its performance and capabilities.

There was an mp3 player added to the Kindle in the first place. My Kindle 2 plays them just fine. Did they take it away on the new & improved models because the player was talking up too much space?

Once again everyone thanks! I'm astounded by the response from this forum, you've all been so very helpful.

crich70 - perhaps my wording could have been better as the reading apps I intended to be included under that genre would be things like the Faber produced T. S. Eliot The Waste Land and the paid for Aldiko etc.

cromag - as the survey doesn't use personal information, all I can say to verify it was sent is that a post was made at 7:58pm which seems to be a few minutes before your post on here, so I can guess that was you.

dreams - thank you very much, my aim is to have this all written up before Saturday night, as that's when the new Doctor Who season starts

if there are any other Whovians on here, I recommend the Guardian short's Who's Who? eBook (http://www.guardian.co.uk/info/2011/...ctor-who-ebook)

Valkrider - unfortunately I cannot amend the survey mid-completion as it would skew my results, but I do take your comment on board, I occasionally work with EPUB3 and guess I find it fascinating at the moment but can see it may not be what everyone wants.
