I understand what you mean. The firmware was released by the moderator on the Onyx international forum. The announcement was made on the forum in a sticky days/week before the the firmware was available. When the firmware was available the link appeared in the sticky. Since this is not the final build of 1.7, onyx may have just released it domestically. The firmware is in zip format but you do not need to unzip the file to upgrade. All you need to do is load the zip file onto an SD card. Perhaps Booxtor can reach out to Onyx in china and inquire about update firmware 1.7 20120405.zip.

too late now, I've already installed the firmware. Device is running okay but I guess in a few weeks Booxtor may have a new firmware.
