Would still be Amazon's black eye. Same way with satellite TV. They've blanked out channels and whined about the channel provider being unfair on their contract. Don't care. Get the channel back on or I go to cable. When a company boo-hoos over losing potential millions in profit, I don't shed a tear for them. Man up. |

Acting in what manner? So far we've only heard the Big 6 side and *I* don't trust anything that comes from that arena.

The manner of "agree to my demands or get your books pulled." That's not going into contract negations with an open mind. That is threatening your vendor. Sounds a lot like how the mob ran their protection scheme, too...

Until I hear something besides the publishers side, I'll withhold judgment.

I'm withholding judgment, too. Yes, I believe the negotiation started with BOTH sides saying "meet my demands or the books are gone". Or that's how I imagine it. It sounds about right. Isn't that how most negotiations start, extreme demands then a meeting in the middle. All disagreements have the two opponents sides, and a truth somewhere in the middle. |

They all pulled their books at the same time? That does sound like collusion. They may be as bad as each other but this is a classic example of going off in a sulk with ones bat and ball... |

Currently, Amazon is splitting revenues 30/70 with any Joe Shmoe, so are the Big 6 and IPG getting a worse deal than any guy off the street? Is 70% not enough for the Big 6 and IPG? Don't they give 50% to small retailers who sell physical books? I'm not so sure I'm ready to jump on the Amazon Evil bandwagon. Plus the source of this article is from Salon, who has a habit of writing nasty articles about Amazon. |

A more entertaining move would just be removing Macmillan's bestselling books - so they lose all their rankings and recommendations, etc.
