I remember my first comic book.

It was called Man.
That was before they invented adjectives.

A novelist friend once told me about the first fanfic to which he was ever exposed, which consisted of erotic scenes between Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock. What he found most disconcerting was that these novel-length stories seemed to have been written by people with severe learning disabilities and contained no adjectives.

I remember discovering the first known example of irony, which turned out not to be irony at all. It was later called sarcasm. This was before they invented context.

Depending on the system you pine for, cost of entry is probably less than the cost of an ereader. It really is nice to sit at the computer/video console of your youth once in a while. I like to share with young kids too, "Oh, that's just like..."

Anyone considering getting a Raspberry Pi?

It reminds me of my first computer, a Acorn System 1. Except, of course, the Raspberry Pi is a lot cheaper, and an awful lot more capable.

That it does, wodin.

The keyboardist who did their last tour was a great help when I was marketing my first book and is also an excellent artist. He created a beautiful etching that graces the verso page of a collection of my stories.

Which goes to flaunt that someone can be charismatic onstage, handsome in band photos, multitalented and smart, savvy about publicity and marketing, and still be a selfless person in everyday life.

Which defeats another stereotype and perhaps takes us back to our original subject.

Alas, space is a major constraint on my end. But I did buy an Arduino. It offers many of the thrills of exploring old computers in a device the size of your hand.

Still, and Apple IIe would be sweet ...

Yes! I would like to get a couple, actually. One to use for a media player and one for MAME (friend has an old arcade cabinet I want to play with).

I've never gotten around to building an actual cabinet yet, but repurposed-hardware, controller-building/configuring and MAME all combine for terribly addictive fun.
