				After an hard reset (solved)

Hello happy readers I fetched the news this morning with Calibre and put them on my Touch. At lunchtime, I went through and after having read, wanted to delate the news. Doing that made my Touch so angry that it froze and the only thing I could do was to use the pinhole to reset it (and by the way I couldn't find any paperclip able to enter this pinhole ) After restarting it again, any attempt to read something else than a Kepub froze it and so on again and again. Back at home, I deleted the evil news piece and tried to open an epub (coming from Calibre), and again it froze. (I had issue with "reading the content" message and freezing in that process, Setting popping up at start and so on). Still I wasn't able to read anything but kepub. I made a hard reset and from now on, it seems ok. But when putting the Touch off, it displays the FNAC logo instead of my currently-reading book cover. The first time, I didnt do anything to have my book cover on display so I can't figure how to have it back. Any help's welcome Last edited by vice-versa; 01-20-2012 at 06:24 PM. By hard reset do you mean the factory reset? It's been a while since I have had to do one, but my faulty memory recalls having to set up sleep and off features the way I wanted them every time I did a factory reset. |

Yes it was a factory reset. It updated afterward to the last firmware and I found in the build-in help that I had to go to the sleep and off setting but going there, there's no chek box as there should be one...

I just checked my Kobo and I am on 1.9.16. My sleep and power settings show a check box for book cover on both sleep screen and power off screen. On an unrelated topic, is that a whippet? I have 2. |

There's no check box in that setting feature now in my Touch (I don't remembrer if there has ever been one, didnt remember to have checked something, just found pleasing to have my book cover while in sleep or off). I'll go to the message you mentioned and see if I can get it back as before the bug. And off topic : Yes it's my older whippet. I've got 7 now range form 10 years old (my avatar, made from a photo with inkscape) to 5 months old (her grant-daughter). Last edited by vice-versa; 01-20-2012 at 12:16 PM. |

When I had the problem, I tried to contact Kobo consumer's service . I was redirected to FNAC as in France, they distribute the Touch. I got an answer just today (fast answerers aren't they ? ) to tell me that with the new firmware, having the cover on display during sleep or off time was just not more available (as it's explained how to do it in the "help menu"). And they go content with that Shame on you FNAC |
