...so...how do I find out that the problem is resolved? Can you create a thread or something indicating a version that supports cbr files? Thanks very much!

Strucks: Matt--MDC--makes those decisions. I have no idea if they are still adding to the group or if they want to see a bit of a track record on the boards in the people they admit to it.

So - from another thread - I'm not sure if there's a new update now?
Would a new version for Kobo fix the issue with reading cbr?
I'm waiting for a good samaritan to give me some good news...thanks!

Current released version is 1.9.12, and that is having the problem with cbr.

It has been stated that fix is on upcoming version, which is currently in beta. When it will be released, I don't know.

Geeze-Louise... Can't wait for that. I'm on factory reset mode right now - no internet. I don't use a router @ home but often go to the library - I want to use the net and still have my cbr. I even scanned and downloaded (pdf) music sheets - I play some piano and wanted to study the sheets @ work.
...AAAAAAARGGGGGHHHHHHH....Kobo people fix the cbr-internet thingie - pretty pls with so much sugar on it that you'll have diabetes just looking @ it...

Sorry, you will have to wait a bit longer or the CBR fix. We just got another build of the beta a few hours ago.

I don't know if this will help.

I have a single CBZ that I created myself. It works fine on the current firmware. Do you have a way to convert from CBR to CBZ? If you are on a PC you could try WinRar. It might even convert from ZIP to RAR. I have a registered copy but am at work and can not try it out for a couple of hours.

It is quite simple to convert. Extract the contents of the .cbr file with winrar.
Then re archive as a .zip file, after this you can manually change .zip to .cbz

If you have hundreds of files to convert, there are utilities to do this faster.

If they are unable to fix the bugs and trying new builds I have nothing to say.

But if they are adding new stuff to the builds and in the mean time making us wait for fixes I will say enough is enough.

Regardless, Kobo started to bore the hell out of me. As soon as we have a stable release I will give it away to a family member and be done with Kobo as a company.

Actually, they are incrementally adding new features to the builds we are getting--not failing to fix bugs. My sense is that they want this update to work flawlessly, and so they are building it out bit by bit and having us try everything as they do it. It has seemed like a very healthy process from my POV. I hear you on wanting it sooner, but mostly, I'd rather have it better. The last thing anyone of us wants is to have everything working well, and then the next step takes us backwards in some way. This process seems designed to keep that from happening.

PS: As an end user I can't see/don't know about what is being planned for the future. When the developers are working they have to make sure not only that the device is working properly when the update is released, but also that the things they are doing will work in the future, when other features will also be there.

Now with firmware 1.9.14, cbr works again.

And there seems to be landscape mode implemented! But, there seems to be bug on it: In landscape mode, if you zoom the window to be "fit to width", it is impossible to scroll page up or down. Or at least I haven't found out how it can be done?
