Currrently catching up on Michael Grant's Gone series. I'm almost done with Plague. Dithering about whether to put it in a middle school library or not. He has ramped up the sex and violence in this one.

Just finished SJ Bolton's "Sacrifice", loved it. A mystery set in the Shetland Isles, a place i've always wanted to visit.

Just finished The Affair by Lee Child and really liked it. It was classic Reacher that puts all the other books into perspective as this one takes place in 1997 and predates The Killing Floor.

And funny. I laughed aloud several times while reading it. I had heard very good things about her books, but this is the first one of hers that I've read. I can see the rest of her books will have to go on my wishlist. Next: Do Unto Others by Michael Z. Williamson. Science Fiction with bodyguards and an action adventure. Quite a change of pace from the previous book!

Just finished another Charlie Chan mystery, The Chinese Parrot by Earl Derr Biggers. It was an engaging and suspenseful tale; I give it ***½. This is the second story I've read from HarryT's wonderful Charlie Chan omnibus in our own MobileRead Library. Yes, but do you know the Ultimate Question? |

I've become addicted to Patricia Wentworth's Miss Silver mysteries! The first one (Grey Mask) was a bit overdone & silly (trying to mix espionage, the supernatural, and a governess was a bit much), but once Wentworth settled into the cozy with a twist formula, the series takes off. Although the "discreet cough" can get a bit cloying. "Ahem!" I'm currently on the twentieth installment, and still avidly reading. The ebooks from Open Road publishers are very nicely edited & formatted - very few typos or badly formatted spots. But pricey - 9.99 a book. |

I have now removed from my TBR list this year just as many books as I've added to it this year. Now if only I can keep this up, and hopefully improve on it. I might end the year with a smaller TBR pile than I started it with! Next, one of the F&SF back issues I bought this year: F&SF, January 2005 by Spilogale Authors
