			Frank Herbert's Dune, for one.

And welcome to Mobileread. Edit: Another suggestion occurred to me: Scott Westerfeld's Midnighter series. It's more along the lines of the Potter books, seeing as it's a Young Adult paranormal series (in three volumes, all available as ebooks). The chosen one isn't obvious until the second or third book, if I remember correctly. It's been a few years since I read it, but it was quite good. Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. Not like Harry Potter at all, but it definitely revolves around a character who can't outrun his destiny.

Garth Nix's Abhorsen trilogy is a slightly more unusual variant. The chosen one is female and a necromancer. The trilogy starts with Sabriel.

most of the biggies have been named but scroll through some indie fantasy on amazon or your vendor of choice, its rife with them. off hand though i'd say the Eragon series by Christopher Paolini. |
