I agree that it's a bit thin to feel "substantially comfortable" in my hands. I use a padded zippered case for transport, but read it naked.

A nice case provides both an aesthetically pleasing appearance and an improved tactile experience. Plus, of course, it also protects your Kindle. I definitely prefer my Kindle with a case.

Agreed. I much prefer reading on my K3 while in it's case than out.

I've never tried reading mine without the case. I'm too scared of accidental damage. And with the case it's easy to hold and still not too heavy. After years of reading in bed from all sorts of dt books, I find it so much more comfortable to be able to do it from the Kindle. |

I carry it around in a sleeve (from my Sony PRS-600) for protection, but I don't have a cover yet. As soon as I can afford it, I was planning on getting Amazon's cover with the built-in light to kill two birds with one stone. So it's good to hear that the covers make it more comfortable for everybody, but it probably won't solve my problem completely however. I had covers with both my Sony readers and I would frequently take them out of the cover because I like to switch hands and positions. So, the cover will help just some of the time. Cases like the one dwig linked to look like they should help. Sadly, I'd have to forego the built-in light.

I thought the K3 was thin too and purchased this cover. http://www.marware.com/kindle-covers...kindle-3-cover It adds just enough thickness, and the kindle can be operated and held like it was naked. Of course the protection is a plus. |

You can never be too thin, or too rich. Kindle is both! |

I keep mine in a leather case from Oberon. Very comfortable to hold and it's well protected too.

This is kinda cool though, reminding me of old school PDA flip covers. And of course, it looks like a great big communicator from Star Trek How do you like the vertical flip? Would you consider posting pics of you K3 and case here for us to see in real life? <shameless thread plug #647569> https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=138206 | |

Well here goes an attempt to post a picture. I have an Amazon cover which is very good and may provide better protection, but since I got the Marewear I have dropped the Amazon cover. I really like the flip opening. The cover opens easily. It's a neater package. In the opened photo you can see a strap that your hand slids into if you feel it's necessary. This way when you fall asleep the kindle will not fall on the floor. |
