i find that ever since owning an ereader, i've been much more impatient about books that don't hold my attention very well. after all, it's easy to flip to a new book and forgot about the former! |

I'm the type of person that hate not to finish something I start. I never start on a new book before I finish the previous one. But sometimes it kills me to finish a book I'm just not enjoying. I keep wishing that somewhere along the line if I keep going it will get better. Sometimes they do but sometimes not. I just finished a book today that I got free from B&N. Now I know why they were giving it away. What a waste of time. I'll have to start forcing myself to give up on bad reads.

When I give up on a book, it's for all time. I'm well past the age where I'm asking "Will this be on the final?" | |

I don't see a book as ever being finished, I'm really only reading one book. It just makes things easier.

My ebook reading habits are simply an extension of my dt reading habits. I always used to carry lighter-weight books such as paperbacks around but have the really heavy tomes left open either on a book rest or simply flattened out. Typically, this latter sort reside in the kitchen or in the bathroom. The bathroom ones accompany tooth brushing and sometimes sitting on the loo and the kitchen ones are there for when I'm cooking. Thus The Ancestor's Tale (in hardback) was a cooking book and Restoration: Charles II and His Kingdoms, 1660-1685 (also hardback) spent almost two years as a tooth-brushing book. BTW I would thoroughly recommend both books if the subjects interest you.

I don't abandon a book unless I find it extremely offensive, tedious or it makes me uncomfortable on a deep level. Life is too short to willingly endure memtal agony. I may stop reading a book because I am not really enjoying it at the time, and finish it later and thoroughly enjoy it. A frame of mind or mood thing I guess. I don't attempt to keep track though. I have many ebooks and pbooks and a wonderful library system so I have always something to read, and more often than not I read a book from start to finish and enjoy every word. Helen |
