I met my boyfriend online, but not on this forum. I've heard of many, many relationships coming from the internet, not just the specialized dating websites, but happy accidents. |

For some of us, the Internet hadn't even been born ..... ..... we had to resort to old fashioned methodology.... |

But there is also the possibility of love at first sound. The crest and ebb of language has within its flow the mysteries of orgasm and the music of notes struck and resonating through the bodies of those who listen as they type, the plectrum of affinities, the spectrum of spoken beauty. The day I walked to the piano as a baby and began to poke out tunes I heard in my wee head, I was awake to the possibility of love, and named my kitten after a friend of my sister's who'd watched me that first time, and whose green eyes called me heavenward whenever I found melody's thread impaled on the rhythm of my own stopped breath. It can be that way for people who find mutual veins of grace, even here, in places like this. |

I met my wife while I was on holiday, we chatted back and forth for a year until I could get back. I made that trip many times and finally decided not to bother with a return ticket. We didn't meet online, but we did fall in love that way.

After we met online and after we've been talking to each other (we met early December), I told her I loved her on Jan 1 in PM. She then went away and I though I had scared her off. But she did eventually come back and said she loved me. She left to go figure out how she felt. Then not long after that, I suggested Skype and we were then able to talk without the long distance phone charges. The rest is history.

I can't decide if this thread is sweet or depressing. Now that you've got my state of mind... With all the amazing people here, I'll be surprised if it doesn't happen sooner or later. I sincerely mean that. I'm single, in case anyone is making a list or something... |

I don't think it is depressing. I think its a sign of the changing way we interact with other people. A friend of mine met his wife on an old BBS, her screen name was Jello, because she likes jello, he thought his (he thought she was a guy at first) screen name was because (s)he liked Jello Biafra. They met after more than a year later and he was surprised to meet a pretty girl. It was, as they say, "Love at first sight"! They are going on 20 years and 2 kids. It's all perspective! |

I actually met the last two men I dated online (but not here). The first one, well, we had a "values difference". The second one ghosted two weeks before Christmas, but at that point I was relieved. That is where the snark came from. I've also made some really good friends online, and I had one relationship develop online after meeting in person while on vacation. It didn't last, but he was one of "the great loves" of my life that I look back on fondly.

I have to agree, there are so many people we meet online that it would be impossible to meet any other way. In my case it would have been impossible to keep a relationship going from here to there, the phone bills alone would have bankrupted me. This was of course before the godsend Skype!
