In the hotel where I spent my skiing holidays, I had a totally new thing, for me at least. They were tiny red strings, of raw vegetable material, maybe 3 inches long, resistant and with a sharp tangy flavor. I had them twice, as a decoration in a tiny entree, and a bunch of those, just once, in the mixed salad I had every evening. Upon questioning I was told that they are red beets sprouts. Delicious and so fancy. I could not find any picture of those. My cooking guru sort of hinted of having seen them somewhere sometime. You? BTW, in the mixed salad I counted 15 different kind of things. Amazing. I want to eat like that always. I need a cook, and of course the financial means. For the last supper I had warm freshly smoked fillets of trout over a bed of buttered spinaches and strips of dried pears. Decoration with paper thin round slices of dried red beets. I like to cook myself, but eating food prepared by a team of cooks under the leadership of a genius is so much better! He is German by the way. Everyday before starting to work, the whole team groups up and they sing a song. Whow. Maybe I just made this up. Next reincarnation I want to be millionaire, though. Pan seared halibut steak that had been marinated in lime juice, garlic, and olive oil. A whole roasted sweet potato with nothing else on it. Roasted cauliflower florets with a little feta cheese and almond slivers and drizzled with a dressing made with lemon juice, tahini sauce, and garlic. Man, was that a great meal! And down 57 lbs and still counting. |

Meatloaf & brown rice. [our version of meatloaf = ground beef, ground sausage, 1 egg, seasoned bread crumbs, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce] |

Due to unforeseen circumstances, seven months recovery from surgery and three weeks (so far) recovery after being hospitalized (three days on IV antibiotics) for a severe infection, I am eating the "boxed stuff". Not too bad though. Whenever I'd see something on sale that I like, or at least don't mind eating, I'd buy a lot extra and store it after writing the purchase date on top. When I needed something I'd take the oldest marked item, use that and buy a replacement when it was on sale again. A revolving pantry, if you will. At this point fresh food is a luxury, but I'm making the mortgage payments and paying the bills. I'm now down to two months of stored food. If I'd had to buy all of that as nitrogen packed "survival food" I could never have afforded it. Change that. I never would have gotten arround to buying it all. Dinner was a large bowl (lots of water) of Ramen noodles with an egg, and a few more spices, stirred in. But I like Ramen noodles anyway so I don't feel improvised. Good for you my friends. So all the spaghetti will be for me. Al pomodoro, or even better, with fresh butter and parmesan. Spaghetti. 70 gr portions. SPAGHETTI
