Luckily, or unluckily, I live in an area with a strange combination of rednecks and gang members. I'm pretty sure the term "women's lib" would be met with a blank stare! I agree with Pookeysgirl, though. It's not an issue of gender, it's just good manners to help someone who seems to be in need of it. I do it a lot myself. (And not because I'm afraid I'm being filmed for that show! )

Get some of those chemical "hot patches" you can apply to to your back - after the first day heat and aspirin/tylenol are your friends. Don't let it seize up on you!

I often think I can only take responsability for what I do and not for the bad manners of other people. But it's a shame; the world always looks a bit friendlier when someone offers their help.

Take a glass of glühwein from me and we'll toast on Chrstmas!( we've a huge supply for the cold months (1dollar/liter )

I too was born in the south. But then again, that was a long time ago.

We were taught to open doors for everyone, and were brought up short if we didn't. We were also taken out of a restaurant’s dinning room if we were crying or making a fuss. It was a long time before I felt comfortable not saying "Yes Sir", or "No Ma'am". People learned politeness as they grew up.

What the F--- you 'spect.

It's a different world now. I won’t miss it when I go.

I remember girls on dates, or even just unknown women, telling me I don't have to open doors for them, they can do it themselves. A few even took the door from me and held it 'till I went thru.

I never tried to explain that I held it open for men as well. I try real hard not to argue with stupidity. I'm afraid that I fail all too often. The older I get the less I'm willing to put up with it.
