Site Graphics lost...

Hi all,

I've been absent from the forum for a month or two, and it seems that I can no longer view any of the graphics or avatars on the the site (incl. smileys, etc.). Is it me, something with my browser, or has a change in the site caused this (and perhaps I need to change some CP setting or something)?

I've tried searching the forums for an announcement or complaint by another user, but have found nothing.

Thanks for the reply. I use Firefox and have had no problems with the drop-down menus and user CP, so I only glanced over that thread - I see now it applies more to my situation as well.

However, now I also see that my work firewall does not allow access to 4dots.com - it is classed as a 'Media Downloads' site, whatever the hell that implies as a 'threat'. This new work 'security' measure to block porn and p2p sites has caused no end of problems, blocking otherwise legitimate domains because they fall under some weird threat category. Almost as ridiculous and paranoid as a 'war on terror'...

Anyway, I'll try from home to confirm, but I expect all will be OK. Cheers!

I think I have this problem too -- if it's a firewall issue, that's why I can't fix it.

Yeah, it works at home, I can see all graphics, avatars, etc. At work, the firewall blocks the site where the graphics have been hosted, so I see only the basic page with menus, etc, and only text where there should be graphics, avatars, smilies, and so on. Bummer!

Interesting - thanks for the info! It's unfortunate that you have to go through these troubles. While the 4dots.com is certainly not a threat (as it is not used for anything but serving static files for MobileRead), we'll consider alternatives to help you solve issues with company firewalls etc.

No, it is not that easy. I explained it somewhere else - it has to do with serving static content in a cookie-free state for performance reasons, and currently that isn't possible through *.mobileread.com the way things have been set up.
