Any news about the 950? Size? If they've kept the size of the PRS900 I'll be very sad... Since the only other choice for a large eink based reader is the KindleDX, which doesn't support epub.

I believe if you read her post more carefully, you'll see she said the Kindle is a good choice for those afraid of computers, which it is.

She did not say that Kindle users are afraid of computers.

Don't twist people's meaning and take things so personally. No one insulted you.

Well, I bought a 600 so I could mark up my WIPs, but for reading on, it was quite frustrating. I wanted to like it, I really did, but I really haven't gotten much use out of it.

I doubt I would buy another touchscreen reader.

I'm still happy with my 505 - the only improvement I would make would be ergonomically. It doesn't really balance well in my hand - the only advantage the 600 had was that you could hold it where it suited you.

A brighter screen would be nice, but it would have to be matte, not all shiny like the 600.

Ugghh...just another 5" and 6" ...
Although i hope it but didn't expect the 950 to be bigger as the current one (should be 9" or 10" to compete with Kindle DXG)

Nice improvements but nothing new; just required to stay in the market.
Let's see if they are USA only or available worldwide after release.

I think I am going wait until it is out of the realm of "rumors" before I make that kind of judgment.

As someone considering an e-book I would love to get a new PRS-900 model with no glare or contrast issues. Here's hoping :P

Do you think if the size was any different they would keep series number as 9xx? I think not. If they ever make the proper 8" 4:3 it will have a different series number.

It will be very sad indeed if they make another touch screen or 5" ot 7" abomination I will have to stick to my 505 yet for another year.

The Kindle is a better choice for those who often travel and are away from their home or who are intimidated by the process of plugging a reader in and syncing (I know plenty of people to whom that would apply). It's also far better for those who want to read across multiple devices (smartphone, reader, PC). If you're going to claim that wireless is a huge benefit because it lets you buy a book in your garden instead of having to walk all the way to your study to plug the thing in, then I'm just going to laugh.

Let's hope they've switched to using a capacitive touch screen (such as the iPad uses) rather than the resistive screen of the current Sony models. Capacitive touch screens have no impact on image quality like resistive screens do.

It has even worse property. It severely drains battery. Right? Forget about 2 weeks without recharging.

To the best of my knowledge a capacitive touch screen does not use any noticable amount of power, and there would be no reason to suppose that it would have any significant impact on battery life. Do you have any link to sources that say that it would?

What about them? They use Wacom touch screens, not capacitive.

Hmm. Then I am wrong. Let's hope Sony adopts it?

Wacom touch screen are extremely accurate, but can only be operated with a stylus. Capacitive touch screens are rather less accurate, but can be operated with a finger. Pretty much all modern smartphones (and the iPad) have a capacitive touch screen.

Wacom screens do use a small amount of power, but not really enough to noticably affect battery life - for one thing, the touch screen is always powered off when you put the device into standby mode. I have a BeBook Neo, which has a Wacom touch screen, and it works extremely well.
