It's really a very nice light.
Seems to me from the photos that ithe Tensor fades too much as you get down the screen.

They all look like that in the photos. The shots I took with my CCFL Mighty Bright showed the same thing, but the coverage is a good deal better in reality than in those pix. This is likely the same thing. I believe the same effect was reported with the Verilux compared to the posted pix of it.

I have got one. I used for 3 weeks before my Verilux arrived. Because it has a flexible neck it was a bit better than other LED light I have tried but still hurt my eyes too much. I would feel an eyestrain in about 12-15 minutes after reding with it. The light is a bit bluish as well.
All that said, I can read with Verilux for 1 hour and I don't feel any eye strain.

Conclusion: I don't like it.

I have yet to find a light that is manufactured as a booklight that I am happy with. I am currently using a headlight like this but I don't wear it on my head. I reduced that straps down to their smallest setting and wrapped it around the cover on the opposite side from the reader. The angling of the head lets the light hit perfectly on the screen and the lowest setting is plenty bright enough. I still have to hold the cover like a book but I don't have to have completely hand-free reading to make me happy.

Just my $0.02.

I have the 3-LED MightyBright and I find that it's almost too bright lately. Maybe I should pluck out one of those LED's, or try the Verilux that everyone raves about.

Well, I just mentioned the Zelco Max.5 in the other thread about the new Sony cover/wedgelight combo and only then figured out this light hasn't been mentioned on the forum yet.

What I love about this light is that it gives a perfectly even light distribution across the reader screen. There is, of course, an LED beam spot, but it's tiny and I just aim it at the bottom (metal) part of the reader so the actual screen is evenly lighted.

It also feeds off two AA batteries (rechargeables are OK, they last a while, but can't be more specific than this) and it is compact -- the LED and the stick it's attached to can be detached from the battery base and clipped onto its side.

What I don't like is that the light-stick wasn't made collapsible so that when it's attached to the side of the battery bay it's the same height.

Also, when I bought the light it was $19.99 + free shipping at the goinginstyle.com, however they have (about 5-6 lights I bought) later realized they made a pricing mistake and raised the price to $39.99 which could be considered steep, until you see the light in action.

I don't have the home-made pictures yet, here's the one posted at the online store I bought the lights from: http://www.goinginstyle.com/AC/Zelco...ght-P1962.aspx

I will try to make and attach some pictures later on.

Here is a good review of the best reading lights for the Sony PRS-505 Reader... I have the Mighty Bright Xtra flex 2 and I think it's pretty great..

I bought one yesterday. It is really good. It has a nice, even light, and can be positioned (because of the flexible neck) so there is no glare at all. I give it a solid "A".

I just got my Sony 505 cover with built-in light (there's another thread on it), and am *very* impressed with the design and quality.

USB LED Light with Kindle2?

Hi All!

I've been looking for a light for my kindle, but like to read it without its cover. I don't like the idea of clipping on a light for fear of scratching it.

I was looking for a LED light with a suction cup base but never found one...but remembered all those LED gooseneck lights that work with a usb port.

IF i were to plug a USB LED with a USB B adapter into the bottom of my kindle , would the kindle power the light?

thanks!

asher.

Most likely the battery will be flat within 1-2-3 hours?

I found this light on amazon and I was going to post some impressions of it but its lae and i am also lazy (They say a picture is worth a thousand words right? well here are 5 of 'em)

It looks like a re-brand of the Tensor light dcalder posted about a few posts back.

Note: The Glare and uneven lighting is greatly exaggerated in the pictures, I find the light a little easier to read with than my Mighty-Bright because of the full spectrum lighting seems to enhance the contrast.
