Did anyone else get the cover for the i86? Mine arrived today.

It has a fitted rear plastic shell, a brown pleather front, and strap. It's also a smartcover.

If it's not the prettiest cover I've seen then it's close.

Is it the Moby Dick embossed cover Onyx was showing in Asia a few months ago?

Mine does not have anything embossed on it. And that's good because I like the simpler covers.

I just read your review on the i86 on your blog and you have a photo of the i86 with its brightness full open, compared to the Inkpad. As I don't use the full brightness, but rather the least brightness (but with the light still on...) can you make a similar picture of the i86 and T68? But at lowest brightness? (I do see what you mean with splotchiness, but that won't bother me )

I recently bought a Plus from a seller on eBay, and it's working quite nicely, but some things which seem like they should be obvious are eluding me...

Has anyone come up with a way to organize the library? With as much memory as the i86 has, I'm expecting to get tired of flipping through an alphabetical list very soon.

On any Android device I find the combination of Calibre (on desktop) and Calibre Companion (on device) to be the best method of organization for me.

Here's the T68 and i86:
http://the-digital-reader.com/?attachment_id=85816

And here's the Inkpad vs the i86:
http://the-digital-reader.com/?attachment_id=85817

I had to take them in the dark because the minimum setting on the Inkpad was so dim that you would not see it in normal lighting conditions. That setting is about on par with the Paperwhite's always-on setting.

Thanks! I use Calibre, so I appreciate having that synching ability.

That said, the Calibre Companion library doesn't impress on an e-ink screen, and having to get to an app to get to one's books isn't all that convenient on an Onyx. So I'm still looking for other suggestions.

Oh, that's a lot better than the T68! I cannot use the T68 for night time reading at the moment due to the brightness of the screen. The i86 would be a lot better. The Inkpad is even betterder (what's the superlative of better when you don't want "best"?) than that except I don't care for a pure ereader of that size (which is why I prefer that Android).

splotchy frontlight ?

The i86 (...) also has a key shortcoming. The frontlight is crap. It might sound silly to hang a review on such a minor component but I've really come to value how a frontlight impacts my reading.
hey all, anybody who owns an i86 cares to comment about its frontlight ? is it really that bad or is it OK to use in the dark ?

If you look at the pictures, you can see how splotchy it is. But it's up to you to decide if it's important or not. If I look at the pictures Nate posted above, I'd say it's not as bad in the lower light settings. Considering I only turn on the light in darker environments, I don't ever see myself using the max light settings (the lowest setting on the T68 is already way too bright for most situations where I have the light turned on).

Thanks Sweetpea for the answer which seems sensible to me

However maybe I misunderstand what "splotchy" means (I am not a native english speaker) but if I look at the pictures, for example this one : http://the-digital-reader.com/wp-con...-hdml-plus.png , I don't see no splotches ...
... maybe there is a picture where the "splotchiness" is more visible ?

Thanks again

This one shows it a bit better. There are clear areas where the brightness is higher than the rest (most noticeable on the bottom and the right) while the Inkpad is very bright all over.

This is purely subjective, but I am very unhappy with the i86 frontlight when it is at a normal reading distance. Even at low settings, it bothers me.
