I suggested to Jim to add a link to the cache page in the error log. Hopefully that'll help some.

I updated personal.ini to use the Cache method for downloading from FF.net and it worked perfectly for about a week. As of Friday, I've started to get the Cloudscraper error again but have made no changes to the .ini. Ensured that I'm using the same browser as is referenced in the .ini. Any ideas? Guidance much appreciated!

For whatever reason the browser cache isn't working so it's falling back to the site. Set use_browser_cache_only:true and see what error you get then.

Has anybody had any success in getting check_next_chapter to work with the cache? ffnet's being slow to update the chapter index on one of my stories.

I have in the past, haven't needed to lately. You do have to manually change the URL to that next chapter to get it loaded in cache.

Captcha Challenge error
I am trying to download a new story to calibre from fanfiction.net I have my user name and pw set for ffnet in the ini file.
The error I get says: Status Title Author Comment Error Unknown Unknown cloudscraper reports: "Detected a Cloudflare version 2 Captcha challenge, This feature is not available...." URL: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/1081990...neath-the-Skin I have updated Calibre to version 5.21 and the FanficFare plugin to version 4.3.0 I have heard that Cloudflare errors are due to ffnet being uncommonly restrictive at times, and that the error usually resolves after 2 weeks or so. Is that your understanding of this error as well? Or will I have to tweak something to slide past the sentinel code? Thanks! |

The two week guideline is for an IP that Cloudflare has flagged as suspicious. That's not the case here as FFNet seems to have permanently increased restrictions for everybody. Nothing to be done about it. Use the browser cache.

The idea is that FFF is always searching for the next chapter, but only in the browser cache, so ff.net isn't hit with a unnecessary request when the chapter list is complete. |

Tags Question (AO3)
Good morning!
I was hoping someone could lend me their expertise on how FFF works with tags. I have 2 sets of tags data ... the first is the one that comes with the program and the second is one I've named #sitetags. What I have the personal.ini do is to copy some tags entries and pop them into the #sitetags so that I can still have the data but not all the mess that comes with some of them (particularly A03's which can be fun to read, but annoying to have) as I then edit the crap out of them. The code I use is (the extra space is there, it's just not showing up on the post): Code:
custom_columns_settings: "New or Updated"=>#action extratags=>#sitetags,a genre=>#sitetags,a category=>#sitetags,a characters=>#sitetags,a ships=>#sitetags,a status=>#sitetags,a *brain ache* ![]() Last edited by PeterT; 06-22-2021 at 10:23 AM. |

I've looked at the FAQ before, but I guess when I went into the ini to adjust it I became concerned that if I removed the subject tags I didn't want that it would make them unavailable completely (thus making my #sitetags incomplete). I'll play around with it and see what I can make happen.
Thank you! ![]() |

Brain-fog question: I can't seem to locate the option to enable/disable automatically grabbing URLs from the clipboard. Where is it?
