![]() At any rate, they're notoriously slow at sending out the return boxes and the replacements, so be prepared to wait. Just another company that makes me happy Kindle is my primary reader. (When my daughter dropped her Kindle and cracked the screen, Amazon overnighted a replacement. Free. And accidental damage isn't officially covered under their warranty. You seriously can't beat Amazon's customer service for Kindle.) |

I'm Reading
Hi there, I love my Literati - one problem - everytime I open a book, it automatically puts in a bookmark (even if its just the front cover). Then the book appears in "I'm Reading". Does anyone know how to delete the books in the "I'm Reading" file? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I received a Literati ereader in early January as a belated Christmas present from my father. I know that the software is powered by Kobo and the hardware is made by MerchSource, and you may or may not be able to assist, but I felt it was worth contacting you in hopes you could shed some light on what my reader is doing. Literari customer support and MerchSource has so far been of no help, nor has the Sharper Image where the reader was initially purchased. My reader stopped turning on a few weeks ago. I assumed it was the charger and called Literati, who sent a replacement out. Upon its arrival, I plugged it in, and the reader lit up... but will not go past the boot screen. I have tried to reset the device by pushing a paperclip in the back, tried holding "Q" while doing so, reset and held it for 25 seconds... all troubleshooting tips that are posted online from people who have had issues with their readers. None of it works, it returns to that same boot screen and does not budge. I have also tried plugging it in to the computer, but this also has no effect and my computer does not see it. I have spoken to two levels of customer support at Literati/MerchSource who tell me that they do not offer any warranty coverage for this reader, and since they are no longer producing it, I cannot have it repaired or replaced. They told me I needed to go to the original point of purchase to return it, but as it was a gift and the Sharper Image does not have any locations in Canada, this is extremely difficult. I contacted Sharper Image, who told me that I must contact the manufacturer. I have spent a large part of the day on hold between the two places, being sent from one back to the other, and neither one claims responsibility for servicing this device. There are numerous reports online of people right up until two months ago getting their readers serviced/replaced; I feel I am being penalized because my Literati didn't die soon enough. I have purchased a number of books from Kobo to read on this device, and now cannot do so. I miss my reader. As the software which powers it comes from Kobo, I was hoping you may have some suggestions for me. I'd be happy if I could just get it up and running again. Even if you do not have any suggestions for how to get my reader running again, I felt you ought to know about my experience with your business partners as their lack of help reflects quite poorly on you as well. I certainly don't have any motivation to purchase more books to read on my Literati if the device isn't working. Any assistance would be appreciated. I really miss my reader. Thanks, Veronica |

I feel your Pain!!! 1st eReader I purchased was a Nook Classic. Was Broke! Returned to store exchanged for another Broke! In the meantime I just thought it was me....not knowing How to use the damn thing....NOT! Anyway I purchsed several ebooks from B&N.... Lost that money even tho I did get my money for the Nook itself back. I Contacted B&N They would not even cr my account so I could buy something else in their store [Not eReader Related!!] Wish I had got a Tablet tho then I have the ebooks I org purchased. So IF you can at least get the money back .... use it to go buy a Tablet! Even a $148 Coby & then you wont have lost the eBooks!!

I do have a Kobo WiFi... so I'm not wholly boned, but my brother is now without a reader, since he was using the Literati more than I was. Still, there's nothing that makes one want to go to a competitor faster than getting the brushoff from customer service when you expected support to be a simple process. |

Hello,
I was curious if anyone else was having the same issue with the Literati reader website? I keep getting a blank screen. Thank you! |

I guess it's fruitless to keep hoping I'll turn on my Literati and get a new update...
Luckily now that I've gotten my issues with the formatting of my SD card sorted I really haven't any issues at all (knock on wood). There's close to 550 ebooks on my system now, and the only issues I've had so far seem to be with formatting of the ebook, where ? shows up for normal punctuation in some cases, and I can't, for whatever reason, get Calibre to read my SD card while it's in the Literati. I have to plug the sd card itself into the pc to get access to it. |

I just filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about Literati's obstinate refusal to repair or replace my reader. Will update.
Interestingly enough, if you look at the BBB page for MerchSource who makes the Literati reader (among other things), there are numerous similar complaints. Most of them have been resolved once BBB gets involved, so I have fairly high hopes I'll get something useable eventually. |

NEED HELP WINDOWS 7
I plugged in the literati and it said it was unable to find drivers. I used a different connection tried again and the same thing happened. I do have the 2.0 firmware. Anyone know how to get the right drivers or what I need to do so that it will work? Thanks. I also tried calibre and it did not recognize the literati eitherhttps://www2.mobileread.com/i/smiliesadd1/smack.gif

I have been trying to contact them since late July! Same problem-no website and absolutely no phone service! Where are those three hours, anyway? After reading this forum, I also have filed a complaint with the BBB. I haven't heard from them yet. But hopefully if we all complain, something will be done.

So I got a really scatterbrained call from their customer service, who left a message on my voicemail asking me to call them back... but not leaving a contact name or a number.
Really? Really, guys? Really? |
