I don't think it's related.
If you select Rename a second time in Rename OTA Binaries, the Kindle just restarts.

If you used BinaryRenamer, then you won't be able to select "Block OTA Updates", because this button is replaced by "Restore OTA Updates"

You need to install Kual+ extension from MiLuJe’s Snapshots thread.
However, this method most probably doesn’t work for a long time anyway.

You definitely need BinaryRenamer in it dedicated thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=357438.

Again, READ everything to understand what it does and how to use it.

(Also, guys, if you just skim the last 5-7 pages - you will find exact same questions and exact same answers. JB and stuff is hard by itself so it demands some level of dedication a priori. )

Is the renameota kual extension sufficient or do I need to use the new binary renamer that also seems to disable logging. Are they compatible or should I disable the renameota thing first ?

I just had to factory reset my jailbroken 5.15.1.1 32gb kindle & am happy to say the jailbreak survived.
I had to reapply the hotfix & reinstall kual but whatevers..

Hopefully this is of use to someone.

Is this accurate? I want to feel confident in turning wifi on that my work won't be lost

This is all we know, and it is the best known method to be done so far regarding OTA block.

Regular precautions apply - if you see a partial update file, delete it.

IF Kindle upgrades to new FW anyway - make sure NOT to factory reset OR update again before you restore JB and downgrade.

I'm getting this message:

The filename you've specified is either invalid or too long. Specity a different filename.

What am I doing wrong?

You put it on your PC somewhere either too far in the directory tree, or it has non-latin characters that are larger in size.
Put all JB files somwhere in C:/JB/ and try again.

I've just done the binary renamer thing on my kindle, a couple resets later & it seemed to work fine.

Using guide from this post I managed to install jailbreak on my Kindle 11 . Decided to update software to the recomended 5.16.2.1 before moving forward. The process is relatively easy and if you follow steps to the letter there should be no issues with jailbreaking the device. Had some minor issues with KUAL until discovering my Kindle requires coplate version and not the "regular" one. Many thanks to Marek and other contributors.

Currently hoping to hear about another method to jailbreak my PW5 5.16.3.
