Organising books!

Is there a simple way to organize all the books for koreader into folders for ease of finding them?

koreaders don't use collections at all, only folders. But if you don't want to view your books also in nickel you must put they in a hidden folder. Something like this:

".books\Asimov, Isaac\Foundation Trilogy\Fundation.epub"

That's all

Yes. Finally that was the only solutions. Thanks

Opened "books", saw the png, didn't select anything, went back to menu right away.

-select in koreader exit (house icon) in order to call nickel
(switch between the two applications as often as you like)
did, went back to menu instead of switching

- finally select in nickel the png file exit_nickel in order to return to KSM
selected "start nickle", started but flashed screen, desktop display order changed, opened "books", had to go to the last page of book list to find the png, nothing selected, went back to menu automatically
then nickle started again automatically, screen flashes "processing content... complete" notice - probably quickly re-indexed the books.
If I quickly click the exit, it didn't response either and one second later went to menu automatically - 5 second later - nickle automatically started again.

Test 2

-select from the KSM home: "koreader additions > start koreader nickel switch"
did, koreader started
-select in koreader exit (house icon) in order to call nickel
did, nickle started
-select in nickel the png file switchtokoreader in order to call koreader
(switch between the two applications as often as you like)
desktop display flashed and changed, opened "books" to look for the png, right after "books" was clicked, went back to menu automatically

-finally select in nickel the png file exit_nickel in order to return to KSM
clicked nickle in the menu, started, "processing contents", desktop display changed, not same as original, opened "books", had to go to the last page to find the png, when the last page opened, went to the menu automatically without selecting "exit", a few seconds later, nickle started again automatically, "processing contents", desktop display went back to the original kobo order.
All tested on H2O and switch from one to other without any problem. I'm very happy with that because before i can't do it because always returned to KSM homescreen.

Great work!

PS: I don't know what do you want to say with "...went to the menu automatically without selecting "exit", a few seconds later, nickle started again automatically, "processing contents", desktop display went back to the original kobo order.". I can access to all png from the begining.
PS2: Seems to be my edition of usersetting.txt witch corrupted it when i try to check font sizes

PS3: Sorry for my triple post!!!

And one more note, I read it in several places, that trying to put android on Kobo should be done with due care, as it can easily result in a bricked device.

I assume that you had a look at all the KSM pngs, and that they are now processed by nickel. There is however something I was not aware of. It seems that KSM png files must not appear on the nickel home screen. Therefore, we have to get rid of them.
download the archive start_nickel_test_no_fmon.zip from this post.
  • copy start_nickel_test_no_fmon.sh (of the uploaded archive) to .kobo/kbmenu/scripts
  • eject the reader and disable usb
  • select "scripts > start nickel test no fmon.sh"
  • remove the KSM png tiles from the home by long pressing on each tile and then selecting "Dismiss tile"
  • power off the reader with the power slider

Now "start nickel" should work correctly.

Are you thinking of something like: You put your books into the folder .koreader_pool, then you select an option in KSM and the books get moved to a subfolder of .koreader_library which is named according to the author of the book?

Such a thing does not yet exist, but should be feasible.

General note: I would like to repeat that everybody is invited to contribute scripts.

Thanks. Yes, I did the png checking as you instructed before the second round test. How can I copy the .sh to .kobo now? I can't start nickle from the menu therefore after connecting to the computer, kobo is not picked up by Windows at all.
Since I can't start nickle, there is no way to do a factory reset either.

Update, enabled USB from the menu. Will report later.

Update, "start nickle" works now. Will do a factory reset.

Thank you for the size value. I will take that. I overlooked that kobomenuMenuBarFontsize is no longer used in this version of KSM.

Could you please point me to the poweroff update package? I am not sure what you are referring to.

Does (KSM) usb > usb enable.sh not work?

If it works, please select "usb disable" after ejecting and before disconnecting.

Don't worry. Was a problem with the editor I used to edit usersetting.txt, not your package of poweroff.

Can you put some margin to the menu. It's too near to the bezel, and also the buttons at botton are too small for H2O. I guess it was by the high resolution of screen.
I also want to ask you if it's possible to put an screenshot.sh in tools menu to activate/disable this option like in this post. I think it will be wery usefull for testing purpose.

Do you need i test the update you do for jshzh also?

4. Now for tshering's "Kobo Start Menu" You can find the most recent version here (FW 2.6.0-3.11.0, all models including H2O). Do not use older versions, especially on H2O.
Copy the "kbmenupngs" folder into the root directory of your device (See 1. above). Then copy the "KoboRoot.tgz" file from the .zip file to the .kobo directory. (Be sure it is in the .kobo directory.) Then safely eject the Koboreader drive and disconnect the USB cable. You should then see the Updating message on your kobo.

Did I miss anything?
It looks like I did, sorry. I have added the needed check of the Library, to the guide.

Luck;
