This is actually no bug. This is as it is designed by the kobo developers. Of course, it does not make sense in the context of KSM. I will take care of it after the holidays. (I changed my mind and did it sooner!)

I uploaded to this post a package (KBStartMenu_06_update01b.zip) that contains the bug fixes and additions to KSM 06 that I published until now, and some further additions and changes.

Changes that have not yet been mentioned anywhere in the preceding posts:

• notification if the user tries to start nickel and there is an update file in .kobo (the update file would cause nickel to reboot)
• activation of the device without contacting the kobo server ("tools > kobo diverse.msh > activate device.sh")
• improved update file handling as proposed by frostschutz

KSM made something wrong with Kobo Aura H2O ?
I installed KSM for using koreader. Tested 10+ times.
And got below warnings when Calibre try to talk kobo.

Before I installed KSM, everything was fine even I use Calibre to send books with many times (100+).Collection was updated once I unplugged the kobo. After I installed KSM, things went wrong. Collection wasn't updated at once till a reboot. And calibre start to have problem to talk with kobo.

BTW, i selected the device as Kobo touch in metadata plugboards in preferences. Hope that's correct. I didn't see other option to mach Aura H2o

it's recognized correctly : Kobo Aura H2O

Yep thats fine; Kobo Touch is the name of the driver that supports ALL newer models of Kobo; Touch / Glo / AuraHD / Mini / Aura / Aura H2O

Please.. lets try to keep solving your problem to a single location.

Right now you have a corrupted database on the Kobo. It needs to be recreated.

Easiest way to do that is to do a LOGOUT on the device. Settings | Accounts | "sign-out" on the KOBO account.

Thanks, it's a wrong alarm I think. Kobo utility reported the error because of the failure DB backup while plugging the Kobo

I'm confused. If Kobo utilities reports an error while doing the backup it's for a very good reason, namely that there is corruption in the database. This its not a false alarm.

So rather than posting about it here, please post in the Kobo utilities plugin thread and clearly describe what is happening. You might even want to run calibre in debug mode and post logs from both the Mac and PC environments.

I was trying to instal KSM 06 and later the update file 01b.
Now the device doesn't want to boot into Nickel (4/5 'bricks' and it resets), but I do have control over the menu.
How can I revert to the original launcher ?

Darn it, I forgot about the hidden recovery after deleting .kobo/kbmenu...
