50 works well on my AuraHD. With 11 lines it reaches the half way point (I have a number of the options off the list).

Luck;

Thank you Embryo and Ken. Since you are saying that 50 is good for Glo and Aura HD, I think it should be ok for Aura too.

Maybe that depends on the goal you are trying to achieve.
I like to have big fonts to make it easy to tap, but somebody else might like smaller, so that it can hold many lines of options ...

Here is how mine looks like.

P.S. Any option for a global screenshot mechanism? (hint, hint ;o)

I would like to have the entries displayed in a size that one can easily select them and at the same time the should not be too large. Up to now I set the value to 50, just to make sure, that one can select the entries on every device. But on the Toucn and Mini, this was much to large.
By the way, I have removed the menu bar on the top. There is now room for one more menu entry.

Currently, I can make screenshots in nickel with the power slider, for KSM I use telnet.

What you have is the same as mine, on your 6" Glo it goes well past half way to the bottom of the screen. On my 6.7" AuraHD it only barely makes it to half way, and both are set to 50. 50 on the 6" Aura should look like your Glo. On the 5" Mini you may want a smaller number.

Luck;

I currently use 45 on my 6" Aura and 60 on my HD, but 50 seems to be a good default value.

If we don't have the top bar anymore, here's a suggestion.
A problematic situation may arise if you power up the device in a place with no light at all.
Its a little difficult to find the entry to turn the front-light on.
And if by accident press the "Info" line, you are stuck.
So, the suggestion is to move the info line lower (if its not a problem of consistent design), for the light entry to be at the very top.

I have 35 in my Aura (6"), and it works fine, although it may be a tad too small (sometimes I activate "sleep" instead of "scripts" and I'm confused for a while).

By the way, as requested in the screen saver thread, I'm attaching my modified .kobo/kbmenu/onstart/startreader.sh, to preload the hook library.

If there is a way to store user settings in a file that is not overwritten by installation / update that would be helpful and give flexibility to coexist universal defaults and preferred options for fonts, etc.
I.e. after flashing new firmware I had to flash StartMenu package again and forgot to backup settings file (or remove sdcard part from the installation pack) - had to fine tune font sizes all over again. Not that is very long process but still doing it once should be enough ;-)

Thank you everybody for the font size values. Any suggestions by Mini user?

embryo@ I will shift the info.

Jellby@ Thank you for uploading your script. By the way, I am using the hook.so, which is used by the screen saver package too, to take screen shots with the power slider. I will add it to the new KSM package.

wikiped@ I am thinking about a better management of user settings. Currently, I do not have a good idea. I will introduce in the next package some improvement in this respect, but it might be only a temporary solution. By the way, after flashing new FW, there is no need to install KSM newly. You need only use the KoboRoot.tgz of the reinstall folder. This will prevent any changes to your settings and so on.

I was planning to include a wifi option to the next version of KSM. The reason for this is that I also want to add a web browser (there is a picture of the test version).
For starting and stopping wifi, I currently using two scripts that Cgm999 provided. You can connect only to already know networks. That means that one has to use nickel at least for the initial identification (or one fills in the data manually).
Since there seems to be some need now, I upload the two scripts. Copy the script files to .kobo/kbmenu/scripts directory or create a sub folder (e.g. /wifi) there and copy them to it. The script as it is now is for dhcp. If you have a static address, change it (just a matter of commenting and uncommenting),

Great, just in time for the Over The Air (OTA) update feature in Koreader's recent builds. Between this one and Cgm999's it should have it covered.

... and since we are waiting for the KSM updated package, I wonder if I could ask for something.

Is it possible to have incremental backups for other things as we have for the db.
I don't know how to script it.
(I used the 'back_up_Kobo_eReader.conf.sh' as a template to make backup scripts for 'defaults.persistent.lua' and 'cr3.ini')

TIA

I am not sure what exactly you are asking for. Two scripts for backing up 'defaults.persistent.lua' and 'cr3.ini'? Or a kind of general applicable template?
