Actually, I am not using the same approach for the KoboTS_h2o driver. Until now, I used the same (simple) driver for all devices, including the H2O. Therefore, renaming the driver could possibly make a difference.

That did it, at least for the start menu!

It did mess with VLASoftLauncher, which was working before. That launches but is now upside down and doesn't respond to touch. I'm guessing that KSM replaced the version that I had previously installed.

Also, doesn't seem to work with koreader; trying to launch that just freezes up the device and I have to power-cycle.

@Frenzie: yup, I switched from advboot to ksm for booting koreader cause i was fed up with this wifi problem which occurs only when booting with advboot

@tshering: ok then thanks for the advice, i was afraid of the opposite, in fact. I factory-reseted my gloHD yest because of an unexpected update from 3.19.XXX to 4.XX. I just put back the first firmware I had for the reader since I barely use nickel now.

arg : I got some ! and $ in my wifi password and i can't figure how to display them on ksm keyboard, any help ?

At least some progress! I have still to modify how KSM calls VLASoftLauncher (KSM did not replace your version of VLASoftLauncher). There will be several other parts of KSM that are not yet working (for instance, tools > terminal.sh will also freeze up). Do not activate the KSM password protection (bouncer)!
As for Koreader, am not sure how much in KSM has to be changed, and how much in Koreader. Is there an error log file in the koreader directory?

Are you comfortable using usbnet and telnet? This would make testing much easier for you, since it would save you from rebooting the device as often (and even rebooting is less time consuming). Which OS are you running on your PC?

Are they not available, when you press "CAPS"? Perhaps they are not. I do not have my reader with me. There is a silly hack to use other characters than those provided with the KSM keyboard. I guess it is in the KSM 7 thread (I have to find it myself.)

Easiest way is to connect the first time with the help of nickel (or Koreader, never tried to do this myself.)

thanks ! I just read that in the first post ; my apologies! I turned it on in koreader cause i didn't want to risk a nickel update and so it's ok in ksm now.

start_vlasovlauncher.sh is the pain.

I've just released 2017.10.18 and added support of KSM to launcher.sh

I've modified both launcher.sh (in my package) and KSM's start_vlasovlauncher.sh (see archive). Now you don't need to duplicate launcher.sh

The only problem is only the 2017.10.18+ version will work.

The more informative error message should clear the situation:

$ksmroot/kbmessage.sh "unsupported version of launcher. Version 2017.10.18 or higher is required!"

P.S. Tested with my Kobo Glo

I uploaded a new version of the patch, now including Sergey's modified starter file. It will work only with the most recent VLASoftLauncher (2017.10.18+).

@Frenzie, I applied your patch. Now from KSM selecting koreader launched and displayed the FileManager, but it was upside down and not responding to further touch events, and I had to power-cycle.

As for KSM and vlasoftlauncher/pbchess, I successfully launched that, went to chess, exited back out all the way to KSM, so that looked good.

I also tried going to "tools" from KSM; that took me to the tools submenu but once again stopped responding to touch at that point and I had to power cycle.
