The wrist page-turning version of FBReader doesn't come from the GiK; it comes from a separate Open Source effort. That's why its not bundled in the base firmware.

Pagination, on the other hand, is a core feature of readers. What the PB line does is they pre-paginates the book in the backgroud every time it loads or if you change settings. That is one reason why page turns on the PB readers is faster than other readers. Other readers do just-in-time pagination so they have to build the page up between the moment you tell it to page and the time the page shows up. Every time you rotate the screen or change margins, spacing, fonts or sizes, the pagination of the book changes.
What Kacir was alluding to was that that pre 15.2 versions repaginated *everytime* you went into settings or rotated the display. He is reporting that 152 is savvy enough to recognize some changes *don't* require repagination.
Improving the efficiency of CPU usage by the firmware (by not doing something that doesn't need doing) results in better performance, longer battery life (theoretically, anyway) and, ahem, marginally better stability.
This is a *good* thing for *everybody*, which is why he's suggesting it shouldn't be an undocumented feature.

Right, Logesman. Nothing against improvements in general, of course. Just trying to be helpful by stating the obvious -- that basic performance and stability should take precedence over everything else.

Rest sure it takes precedence. The failures of the last versions are exceptions, not the norm. I'm not a programmer myself, but as a manga fansubber, even on amateur levels, the quality control issue is really big. You notice when you have done something wrong because it costs you people ignoring the latest chapter

Well, we learned our lesson and now do extensive betatesting before releasing a new FW version. We should have done this earlier, I know.

Please, please, pretty please!

The more people in various situations test the software the smaller is the chance that some bug remains undiscovered.

Please ...

There is a new more stable version of 15.2 for MM out just minutes ago. Please PM Forkosigan if you want to test that. This beta test is only available to a limited number of users. All others, please stay with 14.2 until the official release.

It was announced at the German speaking PocketBook forum that if the non-public beta testing goes well, they will release 15.3 in about two weeks.
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=212
It will have improved Adobe reader, and, of course, greatly reduced number of bugs.

If you like to live on a bleeding edge, you are not afraid to install beta and if you wish to help Guys in Kiev (TM) with betatesting send Forkosigan a private message. Says Forkosigan in his post on German forum.

I have installed the last beta yesterday. So far I have no bugs to report.

I did so as well. I've read one book in each format and so far it doesn't hang.

I cheated, I chose small ones on purpose . The matter is, I knew former 15.2 versions tended to hang about 60 or 70 pages after starting to read regardless of format, so it was a good idea to try small books to see if that particular annoying glitch was happening.

Bugs in 15.2 seem to differ per device (I have no problems with huge books on my PB302 running 15.2). I hope there are enough beta-tester out there busy testing the 15.3 beta on the PB302.

We are talking about the 360 only for the moment and of a revisited version of 15.2 that should bring the old stability back minus the bugs, of course.

Will this include fixes for the "dual boot" bug, and the bug of having no "back" item from a hyperlink in ADE?
