The related books uses the series and authors as defined on the device. It's done with a simple comparison of the strings stored in the database. Splitting up multiple authors is a lot of extra work. I'll put it down as something to look at in the future.

Hi David
I'm having trouble with the Series Sort, but it may be my lack of understanding. In Help it says: •The books also have to have a series number. Some books from Kobo do not have the number. This sounds like the the series sort relies on a value supplied from Kobo and so would only work with some KEPUBS? It doesn't use the series name and number that I enter in Calibre and the Utilities have successfully written to the GLO's database? The series name and number appears in the GLO's library for each book. I would have thought the value you set for "Date Added" would be based on that? |

Firstly, unless you are using an older firmware, forget about the series sort. The "Date added" sort for the collection is broken in the firmware. Because of that, using this function doesn't do anything useful.
But, the series and number the function uses is whatever is in the device database. If you look at a book and it has a series name and number, that is what is used. From memory, books without a number are sorted first. |

Would it be possible to make the translations available in transifex, in the calibre-plugins project? In the meantime, in the remove anotations dialog, it says "antoaciones" instead of "anotaciones" (in the Spanish translation). |

There's a problem with the backups, or there's something I don't understand.
I have checked the daily backup box (backup on every connection unchecked), number of backups to keep cheked and set to 5. Today I have connected the device several times. The plugin has created a backup every time and has deleted older backups, so now I have only 5 backups of today, and nothing earlier (only some .sqlite files, which are not automatically deleted). I would think that my settings mean that no additional backups should be created on a single day. And maybe, if multiple backups are created each day, there could be an option to keep the backups for a number of different days, rather than just a number of backups. And by the way, I get this for any of the backup files: Code:
zip -vT KoboReader-KoboAura-514A3A4900505-20150106-211543.zip Archive: KoboReader-KoboAura-514A3A4900505-20150106-211543.zip testing: Kobo eReader.conf OK testing: version OK testing: affiliate.conf OK testing: .adobe-digital-editions/ error: invalid compressed data to inflate testing: .adobe-digital-editions/device.xml OK testing: KoboReader.sqlite OK At least one error was detected in KoboReader-KoboAura-514A3A4900505-20150106-211543.zip. test of KoboReader-KoboAura-514A3A4900505-20150106-211543.zip FAILED zip error: Zip file invalid, could not spawn unzip, or wrong unzip (original files unmodified) |

I don't have the problem with zip file (at least in Windows), but I have more than a backup for the same day, although I've checked daily backup only.

I've unchecked "include configuration file" and no more backups although a strange glitch. I've unchecked the option with no device attached, and the next time there's a zip and a sqlite fail. I've open preferences with device the attached, I've disconnected it, I've connected it again and no additional backup.

Hmm, there seems to be a problem with the backup. I knew there was a problem with exactly how many files were kept if you swap between including the database in the config zip file or not. I thought it sorted itself out after a few backups were made. I'll look at it over the weekend.

I'm also seeing a device backup problem. I usually have it set at "backup daily, keep 5 copies", today I set it to "backup each connection keep 10 copies" because I was going to do some tidying up shelves and loading new stuff and I knew I'd be unplugging/plugging a lot.
In my backup directory I see: KoboReader-KoboTouch-N905B1C305194-20150110-001411_CORRUPT.sqlite KoboReader-KoboTouch-N905B1C305194-20150110-002359_CORRUPT.sqlite Error message shows: Code:
calibre, version 2.15.0 (win32, isfrozen: True) Failed to backup device database: Failed: Backing up Kobo device database *** in database main *** Main freelist: 6 of 10 pages missing from overflow list starting at 33953 Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\device.py", line 87, in run File "calibre_plugins.koboutilities.jobs", line 186, in do_device_database_backup Exception: *** in database main *** Main freelist: 6 of 10 pages missing from overflow list starting at 33953 I couldn't find any stickies in this thread that explain how to fix (I haven't had much luck searching). I have a sqlite backup from yesterday, how do I go about restoring it? It is as simple as replacing the KoboReader.sqlite db? My environment is: Calibre 2.15 64bit | Kobo Utilities 2.02 | Kobo Touch | FW 3.1.1.0 | Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit |

Actually yesterday on one sync I saw the infamous
Spoiler:
I said Oh HECK then realized I still had Kobo Dekstop running in addition to calibre. Shut down Desktop, ejected and re-attached Kobo; no errors. Would be their be any benefit to checking in either Kobo Driver or Kobo Utility for the presence of Desktop, and alerting the user? |

Follow up on my earlier message.
After posting I went searching the thread with fewer keywords and found some messages from last October. One of davidfor's messages mentioned a similar case where compressing the database might fix the problem (and if not, I'd be no worse off). After running "Compress device database" I found that the fatal error I was receiving after plugging in had changed. Code:
calibre, version 2.15.0 (win32, isfrozen: True) Failed to backup device database: Failed: Backing up Kobo device database wrong # of entries in index analytics_events_timestamp wrong # of entries in index sqlite_autoindex_AnalyticsEvents_1 Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\device.py", line 87, in run File "calibre_plugins.koboutilities.jobs", line 186, in do_device_database_backup Exception: wrong # of entries in index analytics_events_timestamp wrong # of entries in index sqlite_autoindex_AnalyticsEvents_1 Bad indexes don't worry me as much as (potentially) missing data. I can probably rebuild the indexes if I can remember the SQL syntax... |

Happy camper now.
Rebuilding the indexes with Sqlite DB Browser was painless. Code:
REINDEX analytics_events_timestamp Query executed successfully: REINDEX analytics_events_timestamp (took 92ms) REINDEX sqlite_autoindex_AnalyticsEvents_1 Query executed successfully: REINDEX sqlite_autoindex_AnalyticsEvents_1 (took 764ms) Code:
Result of running 'PRAGMA integrity_check' on database on the Kobo device: ok |

I'm finding a problem with Kobo Utilities plugin when I attach my iPad and I join calibre with marvin, I get first the following exception:
Spoiler:
As I have the Reading List plugin active, some books are sent to the device and there's another exception: Spoiler:
which breaks calibre. When I open calibre again (and the books has already been sent), the first exception happens and the second one too (when I disconnect the device), but calibre keeps on running. Last edited by Terisa de morgan; 01-19-2015 at 04:37 PM. |

Terisa: I think the only think I can say is:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So much careful checking of the actual device connected and I don't even use that. I'll fix it in the next couple of days. |
