Hello,

Kindly help me.
I had made a mistake and bought new Kindle 3 WiFi 3.0.2 from the guy and now I can't register it because Amazin says "it was lost in shipping".
I tried to find the guy but he doesn't respond to emails
I got fulled.

I checked this post:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88004
and I have applied the following updates (correct versions for 3w model) to it:
jailbreak 0.4.N
ss-0.18.N
fonts-4.2.N

the collection feature is still not working.
Kindle is still showing that it is not registered.
Please help! I don't know what to do..
I cannot afford to buy another Kindle now.
Is there any way to make it registered?

Applying the Kindle hacks won't help you register your Kindle. The guy you bought it from was obviously pulling some dirty tricks, and you should see if you can get a refund from your credit card company or whatever method you used to pay for it.

Your best hope for getting the Kindle to register is to contact Amazon and explain what had happened.

It seems that when you install Duokan, the Screensaver hack is deactivated. (I am using v3.0.3 but I experienced this also on Kindle v3.0.1). Anyone else has seen this happening? Has anyone resolved this?

There's no way to register this with Amazon. They know who they sold it to, and the person they sold it to claimed never to have received it, and got a replacement from Amazon.

In short, it's stolen goods.

If you could provide the identity of the person who sold it to you to the Police might be interested.

I'm somewhat surprised Amazon haven't asked for it back. Perhaps they feel the possibility of bad publicity is more than the Kinde is worth. But they're never going to allow it to be registered.

To answer my own question , yes it does, installed 3.1 with no probs...

When you install 3.1, don't do the mistake I did. I uninstalled all the hacks prior to updating to 3.1, and now it won't let me jailbreak it, or install the screensaver hack.

If anybody knows of a solution, I'd appreciate it.

I can also confirm that 3.1 installs with no problems with BOTH the screensaver and fonts hack installed. Just be patient while it installs. It says "Update Successful," but then it goes through it again; ditto for restarting -- it did it a bunch of times.

No need to uninstall the hacks first -- and you shouldn't. As billmilo says above, 3.1 will prevent you from reinstalling them.

I would think that if you did a full restore, it's likely to restore you to 3.0.3, and not 3.1. Don't know for certain. But if it does, then you can reinstall your hacks and only afterwards upgrade to 3.1.

Alternatively, a Google search will probably find somewhere from where you can download 3.0.3. Whether or not it will install over 3.1 and downgrade it, I don't know, but you can try (and, if all fails, do a full reset).

ditto here... i just installed 3.1 and my ss hack still works... didn't install font hack though... also since i couldn't install 3.0.3 hopefully this gets me up to 'speed'...

Mine also restarted twice and I thought I'd ruined it. But all is fine, and it does seem faster.

Can't find any books with page numbers. All mine are DRM "cleaned". Would that make a difference I wonder?

I tried everything. I'm stuck on 3.1. Hopefully the kind people who made the jailbreak for 3.0.3, will make one for 3.1

Just give it time. Your books need to resync with the page numbers. I have DRM-free books and the page numbers are definitely showing. Just took some time -- they didn't right away.
