Also for some reason I can't work out I get an extra line at the bottom of each page with the new one.
The extra lines must be because of formatting or display issues I am thinking. Perhaps checking:
1. Was the same file uploaded to the PW in both ie mobi vs azw vs different conversion settings (ie line height code)?
2. Did you change the margins or line spacing on one of the PW?
3. Is the font the exact same or did you embed a font?

Given the photos, I would take the PW2 over your NT any day. The PW in the photos appear to have more contrast compared to the grays of the NT. I found when I changed from sony to PW1 and from PW1 to aura and then back to PW2, that the contrast and lighting that looked "weird" at first due to the different white balance colour temp quickly become the new "norm" after reading for a few hours or a day and no longer noticeable.

I like that motto or as others put it: "ignorance is bliss." Another way of putting it is: "those, who ignore the problems of life, do not suffer from them."

I'd put it in modern terms: "blessed are the ignorant for they know not the suffering of the smart."

Josie, I am sorry for your loss.

I received both PW2. One is a tad more yellow than the other and has 1 pinhole. I am keeping it for myself. The other one is creamier and has no pinholes at all, and that one, the perfect one, goes to my mom.

The pinhole on mine is very near to the frame on the left hand side and ends up being in the margin, so I think I'll be fine with it. I really looked for pinholes. Had I not known it was a possibility, I might never have found it.

The yellow and cream tendencies are really hard to catch, it just feels nice in general, and it's by putting them side by side that I saw the difference, but it's a tiny one really, and were it not for the pinhole I would have had a hard time deciding which one is the best (thus for my mom).

I am not disappointed at all, the contrast is fine for me. Now I'll pack my moms back in the box, select a nice case for her and wrap it up all nice and shiny with ribbons and all. She will love it.

To an extent ignorance does help, but one has to be realistic - if we are talking about a screen you are going to watch for hundreds and hundreds of hours, how realistic is it to remain ignorant anyway?

Maybe if the issues is purely of comparison, it is one thing. If you don't have multiple Kindles or e-ink readers to compare, maybe that way you can remain ignorant. But if you are sensitive to light blotches, hues, pinholes or that kind of issues, they will manifest themselves to you anyway.

Blessed aren't the ignorant, but those who don't care. But those who do care, it is hard to stop caring...

Thanks everyone for the condolences.

Both PW2s are boxed up to go back. I do want one but will probably wait now until after Christmas and try again.

I wasn't sure they carried them at the mobile stores, but they do. A rep came over and asked me if I had any questions. I told him no, but I asked if they carried the Kindle PW2. He said they did. I asked him if they've been having any returns on them and told him how I tried 3 PW2's previously and explained to him the problems I had. He said he wasn't sure about the returns, but he asked me if I wanted to buy one and have a look at it in the store first. I said, can I return it on the spot if I see issues? He said sure, no problem. He was super nice about it. I wasn't sure if I had to wait to return it or not, as I've heard you do, but he said no worries, you can return it right away.

Long story short, I shockingly managed to get a good one. He let me look at it for awhile, he was very patient about it. I saw NO pinholes or color hues. I thought maybe when I got back to work with it I'd see something, but it looks perfect! I even checked it out in the office bathroom with the light off. hee hee. The screen is not as yellow as the others I had, but it is more creamy than my PW1. The contrast looks pretty good too!

I have my PW1 at work with me and I've compared them side by side and so far, so good! I believe I finally have a keeper!!!
Awesome.. mine looks perfect.. but sometimes I wonder if there are better ones out there? sheeesh.. I guess I'm never satisfied..

I seem to have been lucky, no pinholes or blotching I can see, tad yellow but not overly so.
Bought in the UK so not first production batchs I guess helps.

Has anyone done a replacement through the web site? I notice on My Orders page, there is a return or replace button.

Yes, I'd rather fill out a form than talk to a live person

I've used it to return an item, but not a Kindle. Just make sure you select the option that says you are returning the item due to a defect or due to not being as advertised. I'd go with the defect one myself.

EDIT: If you select the option that basically says you are returning the item because you no longer want it, they will deduct the return shipping from your refund.
