Why is anyone here worried about the RETURN process? As of right now at the Amazon site for the Paperwhite 2013 there are 245 reviews of which 161 are FIVE STARS and only 15 are one star.
The odds are now over TEN TO ONE that you will get a PERFECT unit versus a dud. You are more likely to die from CANCER this year than receive a dud. |

Will amazon pay return shipping if you're unhappy with it? I think they only do that if it's the wrong order or product is defective. |

I have always stated defects for my returns on the PW's (pinholes, glowing specks, color hues) however, they will pretty much pay return shipping if you state you are unhappy and give a reason. For instance, if you say it's not as advertised for any reason - screen color, contrast isn't as good as advertised etc. I believe they will pay return shipping without a problem.

I've read around 200 pages with my pw2 now and I can definitively say it is worse to read on than the pw1 I had and returned as well as my brother's pw1. On the pw1, I am ok if not too happy reading the built in helvetica. On the pw2, I can't read with any of the built in font. I have to embed Franklin gothic demi condensed, a crazy bold font normally used for headings, to read comfortably.
The light is incredibly convenient and I can see why people love it, but it compromises the screen too much for me. Sigh. |

I'm going to return my second PW2 and wait and see if there is a fix for the yellow screen.
There are some cheap PW1 on eBay. It will work for what I want it to do until the next one and then I can give it to DH for his reading pleasure. |

I've just finished reading a book on my PW2 and in my opinion, it's much improved over the PW1. The recent pictures here look nothing at all like my PW2 (I've tried unsuccessfully to photograph it). Mine is very evenly colored with a very faint beige tint. No screen imperfections at all. The helvetica font is nice and dark. Footnotes are now handled incredibly well.
Everyone sees things differently and I'm just sorry that once again this year, MR PW buyers have angst over what real or imagined "imperfections" their PW will have ![]() Personally, I never put much import in internet comments as you never know the agenda of posters (including myself of course). But for me only, this is the best ereader currently available. Last edited by JoHunt; 10-08-2013 at 02:21 PM. |

Blame the photos (is this correct?), the screen is ok for me. Yes, I prefer the little yellowish of PW2 to the little blueish of the PW1. I have to check it more, reading some books but with the future jailbreak and JBpatch, I hope, I think it will be almost perfect. |

Seriously though, a one in ten chance of a faulty unit is absolutely horrible for a company manufacturing electronics; I doubt even Apple could survive such a huge number of duds. |

Reporting back after about a week with my new KPW2...I'm very happy with it. I've been reading on it a lot--and haven't noticed any pinholes yet. It does appear to have a little bit of a yellowish hue when reading, but not so much that it bothers me. I don't have a KPW1 to compare to, and maybe that's a good thing
