I really like mine. I upgraded from the K3 to the PW2 (sold the K3 with it's lighted cover for $85) and got the PW2. I enjoy the touch screen, it's much easier to press a word in order to get it's translation and the back light is great. I also like the fact that it's smaller than the K3.

It's pretty impossible to capture a true image of the color and hue of a lighted ereader. In any case, some devices vary under the same model and each device you receive might be a little different. At least your device is free of pinholes, bleeding and other issues. |

That said, LED allowances etc. probably mean some PW2's are more yellow than others. So a replacement might be a little whiter, but still warm in color. I'd say the risk of other screen imperfections might be a bit too high to replace an otherwise acceptable screen. You can try, but the risk is there. Maybe if you can get a replacement and choose which is best, and only then return the old one if it is worse - that could be a solution. Or explore (like me in my signature link) $69 Kindle "4B" with a lighted cover instead. ![]() |

Amazon overdid the yellow, I think because of some complaints of first one being too blue.
Gen 3 I'm certain will be less yellow and more beige. When you talk to a csr, it's clear they've been instructed to tell people the new pw has yellow screen. Problem is, there is quite a bit of variance, as side by side photo of several units posted somewhere up thread shows, so it's hard to know if yours is excessively yellow or just normal. Hadn't noticed it was yellow until you mentioned it, but if it bothered me the light makes the screen white again. It seems yellow to me only with the light off.

I must be weird, I don't see a yellow tint on my PW2. I love it though.
And I do miss the dead authors. The new screen savers are nice but I kind of miss the dead authors. And the scroll wheel with the silver lin on the right side.... |

I don't find it yellow really, but cream. On one of the PW2 I have here, the screen is a tad creamier than on the other one, but I find both very agreeable.

On most of the screens as reported in the forums it seems the PW2 have a nice cream colored (slightly yellow) screen. But a few people got units with a darker yellow screen, at least in the center of the screen. Those units tended to make reading the text difficult in the dark yellow areas, according to forum posts I've read. So it depends greatly on whether a person gets a typical cream colored (slightly yellow) screen or a screen with a dark yellow blob in the center.

Received mine on Wednesday. It's my first Kindle (have a Sony PRS-300, 600, and T2), but while the screen is perfect, the bottom of the housing squeaks when I squeeze/hold it. The top of the casing does not do this. Is this normal? I'm trying to convince myself not to care, with little success... thoughts? (And hi!)

Hi, Alan. Mine doesn't squeak, but it may in time. Still, that would be easier to live with than screen problems IMO.
