Oh, it meant the modern country where Babylon used to be - duh.
And Sneaky, like me, was obviously taught at school that Australia is the largest island and the smallest continent. So is 7. Greenland? |

It looks like I got Iceland & Greenland confused. I think of Greenland as being the smaller more idyllic island with green mountains and a place I'd like to visit. I think of Iceland as a massive island of ice and glaciers, and a place I'd like my mother-in-law to visit. Apparently it is just the opposite. I think it is a marketing ploy by their evil tourism industries.

1. Who was nicknamed The Little Corporal? Napoleon - Daithi.
2. What's the term for oscillation of water particles in the oceans? Wave - Daithi. 3. Which disease was known as the White Plague? 4. If you are at zero degrees longitude and zero degrees latitude, where are you? The Atlantic - Daithi. 5. Where were the Olympics held in 1900? Paris - Daithi. 6. Who was the first person to sail around the world? (Plus the crew of course!) Ferdinand Magellan is the answer given - Daithi. 7. What was the name of the fisherman in Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea? Santiago - issybird. 8. Who was the only artist to have his work displayed in the Grand Gallery of the Louvre while still living? 9. Which city was the site of the first meeting of the United Nations General Assembly? 10. Name the school attended by Tom in Tom Brown's Schooldays. Rugby - issybird. 3. Stitchawl gets a point for his brilliant suggestion, even though it isn't the right answer. 9. Another city is given, though I would have said San Francisco too, issy. So Daithi heads the medal count with 5, issy has 2 and Stitchawl an honorary 1. Let's wait for the sleepy ones to wake up and have a go at 3., 8. and 9., and I'll give the answers in 12 hours' time or so and hand over to Daithi for the next quiz. |
