A few Olympic questions (I know people are going to be sick of the Olympics in a few weeks, so thought I'd get these in early);

1. Why are the London Olympic mascots called "Wenlock" and "Mandeville"?

2. Why were the five colours of the Olympic rings; blue, yellow, black, green and red, so chosen?

3. What are the only events in the Olympic schedule in which men and women compete together?

4. What are the only three countries to send a team to every modern Olympic Games (i.e. since 1896 )?

5. To which city was the 1940 Olympic Games originally awarded?

2. They were colours used on the flags of the original competing countries, or something like that...

3. Tennis? Badmington? Dressage?

4. UK? Germany? Greece?

5. Paris?

2. Not quite, but on the right lines.

3. Dressage is correct - all equestrian events, to be precise.

4. One of those is (sort of) right!

4. Switzerland? Sweden? And perhaps East Germany went in 1980 while West Germany went in 1984 (the two boycotted Olympics--not trying to usurp pooh_bear, just expand).

The rings represented the five continents, the colors represented the colours from the flags of the participating nations. That last bit might be incomplete now, but it did cover the colours when the flag was made.

Switzerland is correct. GB and Switzerland are two of the three that have sent a team to all modern Olympics.

The number five is for the five continents. As you correctly state, every single competing nation has at least one of those colours in its flag.

I'll give Orlok the UK one. I think that makes it that Orlok has two points and Issybird and HIMS one apiece. Still one of the three countries and questions 1 and 5 to get.
