George is George Eliot, née Mary Ann Evans. Evelyn is the incomparable Evelyn Waugh, né Evelyn Waugh, and while he might have loved her writing, marriage wouldn't have been in the cards.

Factoid: Waugh's first wife also was named Evelyn. They were known as He-Evelyn and She-Evelyn.

Just squeaked in there!

At the risk of making many pairs of eyes glaze over, I'll try something close to home.

In the 15 months between September 1989 and November 1990, New Zealand had four different Prime Ministers. At least three of the four had a certain amount of visibility outside the country. Two of them later had the same job (at different times) in a Northern Hemisphere country. One of them was head of a well-known international body.

Points for:
- Naming any of these PMs
- Identifying their later jobs and/or any particular claim to fame outside New Zealand

Extra coolness points for naming either of the two PMs who followed these four, and what makes them significant in NZ's political history.

Russell Crowe and Keith Urban are kiwis, But I don't think prime ministers.

Sadly we only know about kiwi things or people if they come here and it is a little the same way other way round. I was in New Zealand when my home state (Qld) premier resigned and was replaced with the first female QLD premier. I only found out about it reading the newspaper (I rarely read newspapers) on the way to the airport. It was on page 5 in small writing.

The television (where I get most of my news) is too busy telling us about 'Merican things like the horrors of wardrobe malfunctions or whether Mr Trumps hair has come alive and eaten somebody.! :embarrassment: </rant>

There was a guy called Bolger, was he there then? I think Helen Clark was a bit later. Pretty bad memory huh?

The hobbity-named Bolger was indeed one of them! One point to Sneaky - and a bonus coolness point for naming Helen Clark (who was one of the two who followed Jim Bolger).

David Lange is correct! So is ambassador, but not for Lange.

Clue: two of them became ambassadors to the same country. Bigger clue: one of them still is.
