The song is a heart warming story of the turning of a formerly embarrassing physical characteristic into a work related promotion opportunity.

Oh, I have. I have. I've already created synergies with the dark lord.

Brilliant, karma to you.
I think, seriously, I have uttered most of those. (Forgive me Father, it's been 3 years since my last confession). |

So in the spirit of word games . . .
One reason many non-English speakers find English a difficult language to master is the confusing rules, or seemingly lack thereof, for pronunciation. One example of this is heteronyms, that is words that are spelled the same but may be pronounced in two different ways and which have different meanings when pronounced differently. As an example invalid pronounced in-vuh-lid means an infirm or sickly person while pronounced in-val-id means not valid; without force or foundation; indefensible. So the quiz is to provide five such English heteronyms, excluding invalid of course. In keeping with the international nature of this forum the pronunciation of American, British, and other English speaking countries will do; it should just be limited to words of common use. Please provide the two different pronunciations and meanings for each word. Since any person who posts may use any previously cited words it would be best to not provide an answer until you believe that you have five such heteronyms. |

By PA-tent, I meant patent with a short "a". Not pahtent or paytent. That's the American pronunciation for the noun. PAT-n't would have been a better transcription.
